Wow - Good stuff but you guys are funny. Can I break this down real simply:

We have the talent to beat the Giants. We have the coaching to beat the Giants. And the mistakes we made yesterday are very much correctable (ST coverage, better protection, better defense). Which is saying something as the Giants have demoralized more then a couple teams this year.

Saying all that we didn't EXECUTE like a team that is going to the Super Bowl. Could that be fixed by the end of the year? Hells yeah. Are the Giants the better team right now? Without a doubt.

But its not because they are so much better then us with either talent or coaching. It's because they know how to do it and we are still learning.

Remember last year when the Pats were 15-0 and went to New York and the Giants gave them all they could handle? That was the harbinger of their Super Bowl run.

So there are reasons to be optimistic (continued to pass against good pass rush, DCR, pounding it on the goal line) and reasons to be discouraged (cleaning up ST's, complete inability to run).

We can bicker all we want - the reality is it's on the PLAYERS to see where it goes from here.

I don't really have an opinion any more as we are playing with House Money. I am just along for the ride.

Just like this thread:grabs:

I'm still trying to figure out how saying the Cards are a playoff team but not a Super Bowl favorite is half empty. You talk about common knowledge up above. Donald, the sentence I just wrote is common knowledge. It's realism. It's not pessimism and it's not half-empty. Hell, most people out there don't even think the Cards are a legit playoff team but I do. So you can take "dismal deductions", your "look under your bed for Eli" and whatever other Nashmanian crap you want to throw at me and keep throwing it. you seem to be enjoying yourself so I'm not going to stop you.

I'm not disagreeing.

The Cardinals are a legit playoff team.

They aren't going to win the Super Bowl.

HOWEVER, they are a good matchup for a team that won the Super Bowl last year and so far are looking to go back (where I think they would get throttled, if they even made it).

You have been failing to see how I can say we are even with the Giants but will lose to Philly. Well, it's because you can't compare apples to oranges. The way we match up against the Giants is favorable, IMO. We have answers for what they do.

I think we are a better team than Phily, but there are several issues against us in that game...issues that we haven't proven we are past as a team. I don't trust them yet in that regard.

I trust them at home. If we were playing Philly at home, I think we would beat them senseless. But not on the road, on a holiday, on a short week, etc.

But that has NO bearing on how I feel we stack up vs. the Giants. It's simply how we stack up vs. the Eagles on the road, on a holiday, on a short week.

The two aren't related. You are trying to relate them, and that is why you have such a disconnect with me thinking the Cards and Giants are on pretty even terms, yet we will lose on Thursday.

It's ok...we can disagree. I happen to think a lot of people will feel that we gave this game to the Giants more than they took it from us, but if I'm wrong I'm wrong. Been wrong many times before, it's nothing new.

I'm simply not as impressed with the Giants as you seem to be. That's what it boils down to. And if you think the Giants are all that, then the Cards performance against this "great" team should have you excited, and more optimistic that I normally am.

Here, try this one on for size. I'd love another crack at the Giants, because I think we'd beat them. I'd hate the Cowboys getting another crack at us, because I think they'd beat us. Wrap your head around that.

Kicked our butts? No they didn't kick our butts. They showed why they won the Super Bowl. 52-3 would be kicking our butts. 47-0 would be kicking our butts. We didn't play a perfect game. But the guys hung in there and didn't get skunked.

I, for one can carry my head high. The champagne just has to wait a bit.

I have to disagree with the take that the Giants were able to run the ball to bleed the clock.

The Giants threw more passes in the 4th quarter than running attempts. On their 80 yard drive they ran only 3 times throwing 7.

On the next drive that used up a little over 4 minutes they ran 3 and threw 4.
The runs in that drive gained 2,3 and 2 yards.

On the last drive they went 3/3 and the Cards stopped their run on 3rd and 7 forcing a FG.
