Division I
The Clippers offense started chugging along with single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings before exploding for a 5-spot in the final frame. Ryan Harris led the way with 3 RBIs on 2-4 hitting. Aidan Ray drove in a pair, going 2-4 with 2 runs scored. Ben Jahnz earned the complete-game victory, fanning 8 and walking 2 while allowing 2 earned runs.
For the Patriots, Damon Owen collected a pair of hits and a run scored in the loss. Cam Ruggieri struck out 5 over 5.2 innings.
Bodie Forsell went the distance on the mound and Jason Pelletier drove home the winning run as the Skippers edged the Rams, 3-2, on Opening Day at sunny Lischio Field.
Forsell allowed a pair of runs in the top of the first inning and shut La Salle down from there, striking out eight. The right-hander helped his own cause in the bottom of the first with a run-scoring triple to center.
Pelletier snapped a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the second with a single through the right side. Nick Martucci led off with a double down the line in left and came home with the eventual winning run for North Kingstown (1-0).
Adryan Urena sent a two-run double to deep center to give the Rams (0-1) an early 2-0 lead. Matt DeStefanis started and worked the first five innings for La Salle.
With the game knotted at 3-3 in the top of seventh inning, Caden Oldham singled home two runs to lift the Lions to victory in this Division I affair. Oldham led the team with 3 RBI on the afternoon and leadoff batter Carson Mellen drove in a pair, going 2-4 on the day. Lincoln's Isaac Cabral struck out 8 over 5 innings.
The Huskies' Logan Dubois plated 3 runs with a first-inning triple and starter Ethan Santerre struck out 11 batters over 5 innings, allowing just 1 run.
A three-hit game for LJ Stembridge, a two-run blast by Aiden Riley and Gabe Lopez's three RBI was the recipe for the Oakers' 8-2 win over Westerly.
Division I
Phoenyx Silva is already in midseason form, going 3-3 with a walk and a stolen base, Nikki Pallotta went 2-4 at the plate and Lily Roumelis was 1-2 with an RBI as the Rams are 2-0 in early season play. Hailey Vigneau tossed a complete game, allowing just 1 unearned run, striking out 8 and walking 1 in the win. For the Sentinels, Crystal Cacador pitched 7 innings, with 2 strikeouts and 4 walks in keeping the La Salle bats off balance. She also went 3-4 at the plate.
Gianna Amedeo tossed a 4-hit shutout, striking out 10 without issuing a walk, as the Skippers dominated. Gabby Peralta, Amelia Fries and Mia D'Andreasupplied all the offense she would need. Peralta drilled a home run and a double, Fries had 2 hits and 3 RBI, and D'Andrea had a double and a triple and drove in 2 runs. Ava Fairbanks and Sophia Gariglio each had 2 hits for the Avengers.
Division II
Teddy Gersen scored 4 goals and had an assist, and Tayler Castergini and Robert Mairs each had 3 goals and 1 assist as the D-II Patriots topped TG/EWG.
Tessa Charello-Ingegneri fired in 9 goals while assisting on 3 others, Ava Halvorsen netted 5 goals and 2 assists, and Ella Mercurio stopped 7 shots, propelling the Avengers past the Skippers. Jordan Pams had 3 goals and 3 assists for NK.
Nonleague
The Rams scored early and often, taking a 5-goal lead into halftime, and kept the pedal to the metal in the second half. Kerrin McGovern led La Salle with 6 goals and 4 assists in this interstate contest. Lily Peters added 5 goals and 3 assists, and Brinley Freitas had 3 goals in the win. For the Shamrocks (Attleboro, Mass.), Emily Berube led the team with 3 goals.
Division I
Cranston East boys volleyball started 2025 on the right foot. The Thunderbolts, a semifinalist in Division I last year, swept Barrington (25-17, 25-12, 25-20) at home. Charles Pincince led CE with 12 kills and five aces and teammate Dennis Dixon added seven kills in the win.
Capitalizing on the stellar play of Connor Valois (10 kills, 3 blocks), Cody Tow (9 kills) and Evan Shea (24 assists, 8 digs) helped the Skippers blank the Avengers.
