Home Run: (NE and AZ)

NE Gets:

LB Deone Bucannon
S Tyvon Branch
QB Blaine Gabbert
2018 3rd Round Pick
2019 4th Round Pick

AZ Gets:

QB Jimmy Garoppolo

Why NE makes the trade:

* Need a LB with Hightower out for season---gave up 77 yard rushing TD yesterday
* Need a coverage matchup S who can tackle---Pats are struggling is pass coverage
* Need a #2 QB---they have the bye week to integrate Gabbert, Bucannon and Branch

Why AZ makes the trade:

* Iffy 2018 QB Draft class
* Get QBOF now and integrate him asap with Palmer on IR
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Triple: (PHI and AZ)

PHI gets:

T Jared Veldheer

AZ Gets:

TE Trey Burton
2018 6th Round pick (*could become 5th rounder if Veldheer starts in playoffs)

Why PHI makes trade:

* Lost LT Jason Peters to IR
* Hala Vaitai struggled vs. SF as Peters' replacement
* Veldheer's been playing well the past few weeks

Why AZ makes trade:

* Veldheer might retire after this season
* Would likely be released in 2018---get value now
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Double: (BUF and AZ)

BUF Gets:

WR John Brown

AZ Gets:

2018 6th Round pick (*could become 5th rounder if Bills make playoffs and Brown plays)

Why BUF makes trade:

* They are 5-2, but are weak at WR
* Brown gives them a home run threat

Why AZ makes trade:

* Brown is a UFA in 2018 and would probably get a better deal elsewhere---get value now
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Single: (BAL and AZ)

BAL Gets:

CB Justin Bethel

AZ Gets:

CB Tavon Young

Why BAL makes trade:

* To bolster their STs (Harbaugh's specialty)
* Is highly recommended to Harbaugh by Tony Jefferson

Why AZ makes trade:

* Bethel is not returning in 2018 (UFA)---het value now
* Tavon Young tore his ACL in June, but played well as a rookie in 2016 and started 11 games
* Young is reunited with fellow Temple Owl Haason Reddick
* Young has 2 years remaining on rookie contract and should be ready for TC in 2018.

I like all of them. Problem is the team we are trading with won't. Not that easy to get rid of your problems.

I would take that NE trade in a heart beat, problem is, no way NE does.

I agree a deal needs to be made to get a QB, but right now isn't the time.
What they should have done is made sure they got Watson....but that failed.

Keim - "we have a package for Jimmy"

Bill - "who's the centerpiece?"

Keim - "Deone Bucannon"

Keim - "Hello?"
Except in the Cardinal world of Murphy's Law, Buc goes to NE, Bellichick plays him at his true position, and he becomes another Adrian Wilson.

"Iffy" 2018 QB class??

Really?

This is the best QB class since 83.

the only bright side to that trade is it leaves us our 1st and 2nd picks to shore up the oline... which we will need because we wont have any money...since we will have to sign jimmyG to 5 years and about $135mil in order to make it happen..... thats a lot of scratch for a dude who has never finished four complete games in a row.

as for bethel and JB... they may both be back. If Bethel thought he was worth more money he could have walked rather than take a pay cut to stay here...or maybe he just likes where he is.

John Brown...due to medical uncertainty...will not have huge value on the FA market IMO...its not like he posted back to back 1300 yd seasons with double digit TD's then tweaked an ankle or something.... but I would do the trade...simply because of the uncertainty in his playing time. would rather start fresh with a kid we can trust to be on the field... club/tub...all that.

veldheer is likely gone anyway but may retire on the spot if traded...perhaps if we find a team closer to grand rapids?? do the bears or the lions need a tackle?

Trade Fitz to the Chiefs. He goes to a legit contender with a coach who would respect him and use him in the correct way.

I wouldn't make that NE trade for us. Everyone tends to overvalue these backup QB's. Sure he is behind Brady ( a future HOF'er) but I'm not anointing him a QBOTF just yet. I'm sure the same people that like that deal, think the Kevin Kolb trade was a good one.

they did give up one huge run at the beginning of the game yesterday and then they shut Gordon down the rest of the game.

I would love to see this happen... or the Pats.

I don't want to see a depressed Larry for the last nine games of ha career. I want to see him have a big shot and go out on top if possible Le.

I agree with this. Free Larry.

I think only Veldheer is likely realistic. I wouldn’t trade a Brown. Maybe he learns to cope better and could be retained. I’ve heard Bethel idea before. I’m thinking a 6th is the best you could get.

I’m not a Garoppolo fan. He’s far from a sure thing. With Palmer’s status unresolved, I think I’d rather have a trainee.

Cannot trade larry. Man. You don't divorce your wife because you lose your job and can't buy her things. Larry is Arizona!!! He represents everything I love about football and the Cardinals.

Are you implying that Arians doesn't use Fitz in the "correct" way? After 3 seasons where he averaged 72 catches for 832 yards, he's now had two season averaging 108 catches for 1119 yards, and is on pace for 103 catches and 1129 yards... at age 34. Having Palmer at QB is part of it, but Fitz averaged 85 catches for 1274 yards in 2010-11 with the parade of idiots at QB.

I'd say Arians has eminently demonstrated his ability to use Fitz in the "correct" way and their mutual respect is beyond obvious.

I'm saying Reid is smart enough to use Larry to the best benefit of his team and he would respect Larry for who he is.

I didn't read it that way. I simply read it as trading him to a good team with a smart offensive mind i.e. Reid vs. trading him to some random crap team with a crap HC/system just to get whatever they can get for him.

At this point since I know he is too classy to bring it up himself, out of respect for the man and everything he has done for the team I wish the team would go to Fitz and ask him if he would like to be traded.

Make it clear that it's up to him and that he is still wanted here, but give him that option and let him know that we will try to accommodate him. He deserves it. In the process you might just get a building block for the future in return.

It's painfully obvious that this team is going nowhere fast.
