If the Cards are thinking about replacing Veldheer with Holden they can think again. First forget the jibber jabber about being a swing tackle. He'll be strictly a right tackle in the NFL. I don't think he'll be a good one. There are things to like, but also major issues. The odd part is he looks like a tackle and in college his skill set was adequate. Only occasionally would he have to contend with a premier player, even in the SEC. This guy has good technique and strangely that's the part I'm concerned about. He can be improved some but his limited athleticism will prevent him from becoming a quality tackle. He'd be fine as a drive blocker, but his lack of speed and agility will prevent him from ever effectively handling speed rushers. He'll be a turnstile. He could move to guard but he's tall and could block the lane. Plus the Cards have good options at guard. This is a bright, willing guy. He will play hard. I just don't think he can outplay the guys they have.

According to what I saw, his combine athleticism matches Veldheer...

You rarely look at a 5th round pick as a replacement for your most dominant and proven offensive linemen. If he has a Watford-esque career with us I'll be fine with it.

They are not replacing Veldheer at this point in the draft it's pretty much best player on your board

Yeah, if he doesn't have the athletic ability then why draft him. We already have a good group of youngins to develop.

he was slow in his 40 yard dash , but being one of the best in drills, and probably drills are much a factor for a offensive tackle

I read that he has a slow kick slide and with short arms will never be a LT and will struggle to be a RT.

Hope you are right though.

i just report what i read, dont know if is worth or not, hopefully he wil have a nice career with us
but i think having 33 inch arms is not an issue, but probably are enough to play at right side

Who said they are thinking that? It's a damn 5th round pick. A depth guy that can hopefully contribute. You had good things to say about Dorian but the rest of your draft comments are a big fat trip to negative town.

BA: Will Holden will start at LT, Earl Watford high ankle sprain could go with Evan Boehm at RG.

As of now, Holden will be at LT, Boehm at RG, Arians said. #azcardinals. Roster moves to come. G/T Vinston Painter is the only OL on practice squad

Holden would be the 4th player to start at LT this year. 4 have also started at LG. C Shipley only OL to start every game. #azcardinals

I feel bad for Gabbert. Maybe he hopes Palmer does come back this year. The guy was sacked 8 times and hit 8 other times in just 26 drop backs yesterday. Gabbert was hit or sacked nearly 2 out of every 3 times he dropped back to pass. Talk about taking a beating.

It's not like we have many options (other than, say, lining up a cardboard cutout at the LT position).

Suit 'em up, put 'em out there and let 'er rip.
