It would be kinda funny if they called it White Men Still Can't Jump.

A remake of "White Men Can't Jump". Really?

"Space Jam 2"... you have GOT to be frigging kidding me..

This is it for me. I am DONE buying movie tickets as long as they push this CRAP on us. I am beyond done with stupid remakes, sequels and the endless butthat comic book and cartoon movies.

Hollywood sucks and needs to die.
Chill out. There are plenty of other things to see. It's as if you think 100% of the product that comes out are properties you hate. Did you even try to see Moonlight or La La Land?

And Space Jam 2 has been in development for a long time.

La La Land? You couldn't pay me to watch that self-congratulatory Oscar bait. My theater folks saw it, said the musical stuff was mediocre.

My wife and I saw the preview for La La Land before another movie, looked at each other, and said "Nope."

Everyone, and I mean everyone, that I know that has seen it has said it's terrific. I don't normally like musicals, but I'll probably catch it on DVD.

Not all Hollywood output is bad just like not all indie product is good. Generalizing doesn't help. It's not like these are easy productions either. There's more to it than just turning on a camera and pointing it at somebody. Sure, a lot of studio output are money grabs, but so what? Don't watch it if you don't want to, not that difficult.

Yeah, but aren't your friends predominantly Hollywood folks? I'm not trying to be annoying, but wouldn't they absolutely love anything that glorifies Hollywood? Like I said, my theater folks, who are huge fans of musicals, said it was meh. It was made to be Oscar bait. What sets it apart?

That's our plan.

Although, my mom saw it and liked it. She said she did not think I would care for the movie itself, but that I would appreciate the locations since I grew up in that area.

If your mindset is from the theater, that would explain your views on movies in general. However, your sentence "it was made to be Oscar bait" has no basis in fact. It's only Oscar bait because the studio released it during the "Oscar season". If it was a crappy musical, they wouldn't have done that. I absolutely loathe Chicago, but realize why they released it when they did.

The point is you have NO idea whatsoever how the movie started to get made. It could have been a studio exec in an office saying "you know, I want an Oscar. Let's make a musical with Gosling and Stone! And make it be directed by they guy who did Whiplash! Yeah! Not disputing that's possible. But it's EQUALLY possible it didn't start like that at all. The studio could have gotten a cut of it and had a revelation -- "this could be an Oscar contender! Release it in December!" You simply do not know the whole story and make assumptions about it.
