Then on Monday - New Years Eve.

Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl: N.C. State at Vanderbilt

Monday, Dec. 31, Noon ET, ESPN

Mike Glennon, QB, N.C. State: Glennon has steadily climbed up the charts during a strong senior campaign. He completed more than 57 percent of his passes for 3,648 yards with 30 touchdowns against 14 interceptions. While some point to his underwhelming completion percentage as a reflection of Glennon's inconsistent accuracy, the senior is playing with an inexperienced receiving corps that has struggled to hold on to the ball for most of the season. Given another opportunity to display his talent on a big stage, Glennon can prove to NFL scouts that his game is pro-ready and his natural talent is unrivaled at the position. If Glennon puts on a strong performance in the Music City Bowl, he could see his stock continue to rise until he's a possible consideration on Day 1.

I will be recording the West Va vs Syracuse game and will give my impressions tomorrow.

After watching the Va Tech game tonight, I would ok with Logan Thomas in round 3 if he declares. He seems to be exactly what Whis wants in a QB.

A big guy with a strong arm that only completes about 50% of his passes?

I didn't see the game, and Rutgers has a pretty good defense, but his numbers were pretty ugly, 15/39 193 yds., 1 TD, 2 Int. That continues his downward trend as he hasn't completed above 48.5% of his passes in his last 3 games.

I was never a big fan of his but i wonder what is going on because his numbers are down across the board when compared to last year.

Lots of talk on the Board about Nassib. Will be a good match to see him versus Geno.

Yikes

Logan will be drafted ( he is a junior, and would be a fool to declare), but I am sure tired of the physically gifted but scatter armed QBs. His decision making hasn't been the best either.

The WVa defense is horrible. Nassib will need to throw for 500 yards at an 80% comp. rate to even raise my eyebrows.

Geno Smith could conceivably drop to our 1st Rd. pick as well.

Nassib, I want to see his progressions and down field / sideline throws. See if he's staring down too much.

That is really important as many college qbs jst throw to one wr and never look for others. Can't do that in the pro's.

While we're at it, did anyone watch logan Va Tech's Logan Thomas yesterday afternoon?

Not that he set the world afire, but (in lousy weather condition and pass blocking reminiscent of ours) held things together just enough to steal a win.

The reason I bring him up is that he was ranked #4 QB by McShane going into the season and, at 260 lbs reminds me a little of Big Ben. (i.e. Should the Steeler connection remain influential in AZ, could this be the guy we'd be targeting in the Draft)?

At halftime, I give both QB's an Incomplete. Snowy weather and a strong Syracuse running attack stifled both QB's. One thing I did notice was that Smith's throws to the far sidelines tended to "die" (balloon-like) before they reached their destination. One thing I liked about both QB's was their footwork.

On a separate topic, what's the deal with #28 on WVa (Garvin)? He almost killed Nassib on an early blitz and "stole" the ball from a Syracuse RB late in the 2nd Q. Yet his predraft BPA ranking by NFLDraftScouts was something like #664 overall (That's not even UDFA territory). I'm guessing it has to be a size/speed issue. If he proves in post-season play and workouts that those issues are resolved, he might turn out to be one of those sleepers skyrocketing up the charts.

Considering the horrendous conditions and cold I thought Nassib played much better.

They did have a bit better running attack, but he still impressed me playing in those conditions and finding his receivers. He showed pretty good read capability and like you said his footwork is good too. He looked much better than G. Smith did in those conditions.

I'd be comfortable taking him in the 2nd Rd. sometime.

I agree. He missed some throws but that's to be expected. He also hit his TE right in the chest that was dropped and his WR dropped what could have easily been a TD at about the 2 yard line on their initial drive. Nassib also threw a nice seam route to his TE in which the TE alligator armed it.

I did like the fact, that even though he looked a bit uncomfortable, that Smith took some snaps from under center.

The other area where I though Nassib looked better was reading where the blitz's were coming from. Other than the play where he reversed pivot and got smashed, which the RT didn't block anybody, he was vey good at getting the ball out.

I know it's not gonna be a popular opinion but I thought Smith played better going through his progressions and at the line audibles. Geno also was more accurate but made some mental errors. Nassib didn't impress me at all and had some bad throws that QBs should make. I do agree with Jeff on the sideline throws of Smith as well. Nassib is a 4th round QB and we don't need that we had that in Skelton.

I disagree, if he didn't have Tavon Austin he would have been lost out there. He definitely looked discombobulated to me.

Like cbus said, Nassib's TE didn't do him any favors when he put catchable balls right on him only to come up empty a few times. But he managed a good game in pitiful conditions and made plays.

Are you agreeing that Smith didn't have much on his throws?

he had too much he overthrew a couple of times never really came up short like Nassib did on his one deep shot. WV had numerous drops as well especially on that 3rd down in the first quarter that was good for at least 20 yards.Nassib did nothing it was all the syracuse run game at least Geno made that nice 30 yard TD pass plus he was calling his own plays at the line Nassib was not Geno is the more NFL ready QB.

Well some are tabbing Smith #1 to the Chiefs. I don't see it. Haven't seen it the 2nd half of the year. While Nassib has brought his game along as the season went on.

That 30 yrd TD was a dump off and 28 yard rac by the receiver.

And Jeff was saying Smiths' throws were dying to the sidelines and I would agree.

Smith>>>>>>>Nassib. It was a horrible game to judge guys on. But i am doing to do it anyway. Smith did some nice things. Very nice deep ball and showed a good arm. Yeah his passes kind of floated to the sidelines, but considering the storm I was impressed. He had very good command of the audibles. I liked what I saw.

Nassib did not show me anything that screams NFL qb. He is big strong and gutsy, but he was very mundane to me. Of course that was my first live look.

Garvin is a tweener between SS and Rover back/Linebacker. Doesnt have the speed to be a DB and probably too small to play the OLB position. But he is a ball hawk. Always seems to be around the ball making plays
