SPECIAL TEAMS!!!!

This team isn't good...

We're overachieving today and Seattle is under achieving...

The team rarely put it all together in each game. It was always one game, the defense gave up too many plays, and then the next, the ST gave the opposing team too good of field position, and then the next, the offense sputtered.

I maintain that this is one of the top 3 teams in the NFL talent wise, with some awful breaks and mental miscues.

You saw their strengths and weaknesses today

That 2nd CB position has been tough-- especially with all the man/ zero coverages the team plays.

In the last 10 minutes of the game, if they simply tackle their guy after the catch-- I think Sea runs out of time before they get the score to tie the game.

Our record is obviously crap, but, you its not hard to see that we're really and truly not that far of from being a 12 win team (looks delusional when I write it, but dammit, I think it's true).
A few tweaks here and there, and we can win our division next year.

This team is VERY GOOD. They just have been on the wrong side of breaks and dumb plays all year. It's just one of those years.
Let's not forget that almost half of the playoffs teams each year fail to make them next season!

Last year we pulled out each close game, this year we've lost 4 & won only 2 of those. It happens. :madarms:

Easy. Special teams, special teams, special teams.

Hell, we don't win today probably without our special teams being just a bit better than Seattle's. It was nice to see for a change.

1. Ego cost them the draft despite a great trade!
2. Worst special teams in the NFL.
3. Lack of a second starting corner.
4. Lack of depth at key positions.
5. Coaching stubbornness.
6. The collapse of several receivers.

This was not a playoff team, but a mirage that fooled many people including the Cards' management and me!

+1

I was thinking a small letdown from last year like 10 wins. The team was reading the press clippings and it got to them.

How do we miss the playoffs?

Special Teams. The little stuff.

Think about the opposite - teams with less talent who, each year, make few if any mistakes and back their way into the playoffs.

Lesson that needs to be learned.

Parity in the NFL is defined by mediocrity. Come on, Dallas sucked rocks last year because for the most part they failed on the little things. Just look at the NFL. We could freaking be a 13 win team next year again and it would still not be out of reality. The product of the game is now about not making mistakes in the red tape of rules and the bouncing ball... the fine line between being physical and letting the other team screw up first is what wins today in the NFL
