I think/hope everyone on the team got a reminder of the level of preparation and intensity it takes to win. That's what Randy and Curt bring, but it hasn't been in much evidence elsewhere on the team this season - actually, I'll give Shea credit for showing real determination, too, and I think Sexson brings it all every single time. Otherwise it's been a lot of cliches and blahblahblah.

But last night all the rest of the team saw, and DID, the level of focus and drive necessary. There is no room for limp, lackluster half-effort, and that's also what the fans can't tolerate. Last year it was cured by the infusion of babyback sheer enthusiasm - but this time, RJ has tossed down the gauntlet, in words and deed. Let's see who rises to the challenge.

To quote #40, Stop talking about doing it - get off your asses and DO IT.

JC mentioned the leadership factor recently, and RJ has "quietly" demonstrated what it takes. I'd be shocked if we don't see more intensity from others after last night.

Despite not being perfect, Brandon has thrown 7 shutout innings so far.

'Waiting to see if he comes to the mound in the bottom of the 8th. I believe he's around 100 pitches.

Edit: It's Koplove in the 8th.

Webb was done ... He threw 104 pitches and towards the end his pitches were missing up (a sure sign that he was tired). Honestly the Braves should have done damage to him but Webb got out of the bad situations he got himself into.

It was the right move by Brenly. Too bad our bullpen blows

Koplove has pitched 23 times in 37 games. He's a small man, with a history of injury and getting worn down by mid-late season. Really, he should only be our fireman, and could fill in as a 'specialist' since he's always been about equally good against both sides - but he's probably not meant to be a regular 7th-8th inning set-up guy. He apparently hinted as much to the radio guys when they joked about him piling up the innings.

Let Bruney set up for Jose. And Jose - go to the DIRT man! not the Rosin bag.
