Just wondering if anybody have seen, heard, read anything about how the back-up spots on the OL are shaping up??

Brown is fighting for the RG spot with Bridges, but apart from that no one is pushing for a starting spot, so there has been nothing about the back-ups. I'm a bit curious about our back-ups since we have a couple of guys that had a high draft grade coming out last year, who we haven't heard anything about.

So, any news about Leckey or Reuber? What about Cantu?

Ahem.Preseason prognostications had Brown fighting for the starting spot.

But - based on his amount of down-time (due to the hammy in OTA's and now the "little illness" that's holding him out of practice at training camp) - he's losing valuable on-the-field experience and now has considerable catching up to do if he's to challenge Bridges

I dont think Brown has a shot at starting until at the minimum of our bye week. And Maybe not even until next year. Green was on the radio and said some good things about him but that he was not in shape still because of the injuries. Sounds as if Green was OK with grooming him for a year before he put him in the mix, and he didnt sound mad about it either, in fact he sounded as if he prefered it that way. Maybe that was just me reading to much into his comments and the tone of his comments but thats the way I came out of the interview none the less.

As for the backup depth chart, I have no idea. The only think I know for sure is that Leckey is the backup center, and in one of the resent articles I think it said that he was really pushing Step to keep his game up.

As for the other spots I believe Ian Allan is the backup LT and Jim Newton is the backup RT. As for the interior i think Cantu is the backup LG.

How quick are Newton's feet? I think that he may be able to turn into a pretty god player as a 2-3 year project playing as a back-up. From what I've read Leckey is supposed to be "competing" with Step for C, but we all know whose job it is. We also need Leckey as a back-up because I think he could possibly play 3-4 spots on the line.
