Games like Thursday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder are why the Memphis Grizzlies drafted Zach Edey.
Edey's role has changed in the last week after spending most of the season as a starter, but his physicality was going to be put to the test against OKC.
The 7-foot-4 rookie didn't check into the game until 1:09 left in the first quarter. He essentially split minutes with Jay Huff as the backup center.
Edey, Huff and the frontcourt didn't appear overmatched with OKC's size, but turnovers hurt Memphis in a 125-104 loss at the Paycom Center. The Grizzlies (44-29) had a 29-9 disadvantage in points off turnovers.
While turnovers have been a problem at times for Edey, he didn't have any on Thursday.
Here is how Edey fared against the Thunder
Minutes: 17:02
Points: 8
FG: 2-for-2
3PT: 0-for-0
FT: 4-for-4
Rebounds: 4
Assists: 1
Steals: 0
Blocks: 1
Turnovers: 0
Fouls: 2
