I plan on posting more again in this forum...I do apologize for my recent inactivity, however, there honestly hasnt been much of interest to post about over the past few months....True.. there were some intriuging battles for some of the last roster spots on the Dbacks 25-man roster, but nothing too earth shattering...

Anyways.. how many victories do you project the Dbacks to have this season?

I say they end-up around 75-87......

70-79 wins sounds about right

Edit: for an exact number, I'll say 78 wins.

I went with 80-89. Banking on some luck with the pitching staff and good health in the bullpen. You never know, wins in the high 80's could be good enough to win the NL West. Lets hope a couple starters, other than Webb, step up and perform

I say 85 and will be in the race until September.

What race?

The race to get your butt kicked in the first round by St. Louis.

70-79 sounds about right, the starting pitching is one of the worst rotations in baseball. I challenge anyone to name another staff in MLB that El Duque would be the #2 starter.

The National League as a whole is very weak. On paper I'd have to say the best team is the Mets, but I have no faith in that squad and their aging pitching staff. That being said, this bodes well for the DBacks which play in the weakest division of the NL. I think they'll surprise some people this year. Their pitching, defense, and baserunning have improved and addition of some guys who can get on base will make the offense pretty similar to last year's 'home run or bust' offense. The DBacks will win 85 games and finish second in the division to the San Francisco Giants.

I agree that if Bonds plays 100+ games, the Giants will win the NL West. The Padres and Dodgers made a bunch of moves last offseason but none of them made them better IMO

I've only got them down for 67 victories. I'd be pretty surprised if they got 75 wins this year.

I'd love to be proven wrong.

I voted for the 80-89 category. IMO, closer to 80 than 90.

I hope they prove my 75 win predicition wrong, however, I just cant overly excited with 2 retreads having prominent roles in the BP (Muholland and Grimsley), the lack of proven power in the middle of the order (G&G are still both on the decline), and a rotation consisting of only one bonafide starter with two who have been regulated to mostly BP duties over the past couple of seasons, one that just gave a small-sample size of what he can do, and the other.. well.. let's say Ortiz is pretty much Dessens II at this time.....

I did notice some positives though... Eric Byrnes is on a mission to prove himself this year since he knows he's a "rent-a-player" stopgap and wants to send a message that he's worth signing a lucractive long-term contract elsewhere... and then Luis Vizcaino 2-innings of shut-out, no-hit, no-walk relief was brilliant... he was more than just a throw-in player in the Vazquez trade, he's been a successful middle-reliever throughout his career and will provide the much needed rubber-arm they've been seeking for years.. definitely a major improvement from Ligtenberg, Herges, etc.. I know anything is.. but he's the real deal.. not someone also who is a younger reliever being tossed into a role of pitching a regular basis and ruining his arm ala Villarreal.....

But again... what affected them.. 11 hits, however, only 2-runs as a result.. lack of executing the small-ball.. they actually do have the talent assembled to do so, but... again.. hate to bring this up as constantly as I am.. they just wont win w/Melvin at the helm.....
