The concession items are still priced as if Richard Nixon was still in office but the merchandise shop, that's where the real money is being made at Augusta National Golf Club. The line to get in resembles the wait at Disney World's Splash Mountain and moves with the same clockwork efficiency (though a lightning lane pass for quicker entry is an untapped revenue stream).

Being a contestant has its privileges, including access to the pro shop but it also means getting hit up to bring back Masters caps, shirts, gnomes and the list goes on and on. Apparently, most of the players are too busy prepping for their chance to win a Green Jacket — who knew how many have never shopped there — but fortunately they have spouses, relatives and managers to handle the shopping list. Some check their credit card statement; others say ignorance is bliss. Let's take a look at how much the pros say they typically spend at the merchandise and pro shops during the Masters.

Not as much as people probably would think but I bought a $1,500 putter last year so that racked it up quickly. I’m guessing $2,000-$3,000.

I have bought enough merchandise over the years. I bought the ottoman, it's a leather thing with the Augusta National logo on it. It looked great and I had to have it. That was probably my biggest splurge. I don't know what it cost — like $1800 or something. I used to get to Augusta early and they would take me in Saturday and I would get the pick of the stuff because they do sell out of stuff. I scooped up that ottoman early in the week.

I've never stepped foot in the merchandise shop. I've never even been in the pro shop that we're able to go into to buy things. I don't know, my wife's probably spent a couple of grand in there. I don't know how much stuff is but I do know we've come home with a lot of extra bags to pack on the plane.

Brian Harman

I don’t shop. That’s a better question for my wife but I bet it’s a lot.

Gary Player

I’m not entirely sure because every one of my family members, and that’s a lot of people, love to visit their merchandise facility. How can you resist with all the wonderful options? I decided not to even look at the bill and would tell my family I would have to win the tournament to break even.

Harris English

Probably not as much as many people. We don't really do a whole lot of merch shopping. We bring most of our close friends to the tournaments so they kind of do their own thing.

Justin Thomas

Shopping for my friends? I didn’t. That’s a them problem.

Matt Kuchar

Not much. My parents run up a tab shopping for friends. I think my dad had a $4,000 bill. My wife and I don’t really do the merchandise deal.

Rickie Fowler

One of the years I got three of the Masters commemorative Scotty Cameron putters. It was the birth year of my nephews. So those are, I can't remember what they were at that point, maybe, like, $600-800 bucks. So, I would say typically, we're averaging out probably four or five grand that we've spent at times.

Tony Finau

We do the gnomes every year and also the custom-made putters that players can buy. I've been collecting those.

Webb Simpson

$1000

Wyndham Clark

I didn’t spend a ton of time. I had other people shop for me. It probably was $2,000-$3,000.

Xander Schauffele

Never been in the merchandise shop. I bought a Scotty Cameron putter for one of my buddies once. It was the year Patrick Reed won (2018). That’s the only thing I’ve ever bought in there. I think $900.

Zach Johnson

I've never been in the merchandise shop. The only shopping I've ever done was because I'm lazy and has been in the pro shop. But we get requests all the time. My wife handles that and she sends people stuff to friends that don't even ask for anything. How much do we spend? I don't want to know.
