How much impact will the rookies have THIS year?

I think only 2 players from this draft will be starting by some point of the year; Floyd and Massie. Floyd will be catching a lot of balls and making some plays, making def coordinators loosen up on Fitz. The impact there will be huge for the passing game.


On the right side of the o-line, Massie will be starting some point during the season. I don't think it will be week 1, but I believe he'll make a impact eventually. When he does start at RT, he will make Kolb have happy feet at first (because he'll see the rush coming) but he's going to be a good pass protector when he gets used to it.

What kind of impact do you think the rookies will have this year?

Floyd will have the biggest impact this year without making a catch. He will balance our passing attack, and finally give us a true #2 WR, and a bonus of having a big bodied possession reciever.

His presence alone should improver Roberts, Doucet, and Heap/King/Housler.

I don't think any of the offensive linemen are going to see time this year.

Flemming is going to play a go portion of snaps, and will play solid, but as for imipact.......maybe a INT or two if we are lucky.

Justin Bethel, he is going to make an impact on special teams.

Massie...a starter...in year one...perhaps at one point, but not immediately. If he can become last years David Carter, we might have a possible "steal".

Floyd...he'll be a starter from the get go...and he was our our "steal"...a position of need and the BPA.

I agree...the rest are a "crap shoot"...with Flemming, our best chance at "nailing" the draft.

We win some we lose some, Schoefield did well but will be 100% this year, I don't like taking all risks, some risks but Cards take too many in the draft, We had a SB team, it was time to play it safe and we went all mad scientist. I didn't agree with that.

Tolar stunk the last time we saw him (albeit in a different system) and has torn his ACL since then.

From what I've heard about Gay I would be happy if he was even an average player.

As for the rookies, I can see Floyd, Massie and Fleming making an impact this year. Kelemete could see some action if injuries hit. I think Bethel, Lindsey and possibly Potter are stashed on the practice squad.

This draft IMO will look OK 2 years from now, I don't see a huge impact guy this year with our picks besides maybe Flemming, but he has an uphill battle beating out Toler or Gay. WR's have a much bigger learning curve so if Floyd wins the starting job I still won't expect much. My guess is some UDFA outside LB makes the biggest impact, only because we have a need there after our top two, and if he can rush the passer who cares if he can cover.

Ryan Williams will be an interesting development to watch this year. He's only played one full season of football since 2007. Of course that also means he won't have the wear and tear an 1100 carry guy has coming out of college. But he's also coming off a knee injury.

One that did: Aeneas Williams 3rd round 1991. Tied for the NFL lead with 6 picks as a rookie. Wouldn't it be awesome if we got another AWilliams?
