Sell the rights, records, history for the "Jets" part of the franchise to Winnie's new/old franchise. What would it be worth to them?
$10, $15, $20 million, etc??

Or better yet, lease it to them on an annual basis and collect royalty fees. :biglaugh:

Any amount they could get from Winnipeg for this would be great, even if it was as low as $1M. Every little bit helps and besides that, its the right thing to do.

Teams should always leave names, colors, records, etc. with a City when they leave. Thats what happened with the Sonics when they moved to OKC and its the way it should be. Sports are one of the last bastions of Civic Pride and the connection to the City a team is in is very important I think.

I hate when teams move and don't change their names, i.e. the Cardinals. Its lame, even lamer is their "Ring of Honor". I couldn't care less about Charlie Trippi or whomever else played in Chicago or StL. I'm cheering for the "Arizona" portion of their name, not the "Cardinals", if they (or any team) abandoned the Valley and moved, I'd stop following them.

But now I'm way off track...hardly anyone in AZ is a hardcore Coyotes fan and I'm sure no one would be upset about selling the Winnipeg name and rights.

The league owns the name "Jets" and have already stated that it is free to be used. As for the records, if more than one team can retire a number, I would expect that Winnipeg would retire Hull and Steen again, retire Hawerchuk and maybe even Selanne. Numminen is the one they might not.

Not completely - the name stayed, but that was about it.

They have championship banners hanging in their rafters along with the complete audicity to sell things like this:

^Oh wow, really? Thats a shame and very silly. What do they gain by putting 1967 on that hat? Lame, lame, lame.
