LSU baseball returns to action on Saturday for the second game of a three-game set against Missouri.
In the opening game of SEC play, the No. 1 Tigers took a 12-5 victory. A five-run outburst in the fourth inning propelled the home team to victory after a back-and-forth beginning.
Jackson Lovich hit a two-run home run in the top of the second to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. LSU responded with a two-run blast from Luis Hernandez in the bottom half.
Derek Curiel's three-run triple broke the tie in the fifth and started the onslaught. An RBI groundout from Daniel Dickinson and a single from pinch hitter Jake Brown plated the final two runs of the frame.
Brown came through yet again in the sixth with a two-run double then Steve Milam hit his fifth home run of the season to make the score 9-2. Missouri responded with runs in the seventh and eighth innings but its comeback fell short.
LSU pitcher Kade Anderson faced adversity for the first time this season after giving up an early homer. He settled in and pitched a career-long 6.1 innings En route to his fourth win of 2025, the southpaw struck out 11 of the 23 batters he faced.
