Texas A&M's 2025 Maroon & White spring game is set for Saturday afternoon. For coach Mike Elko and his staff, this game serves as the final opportunity this month to assess the regular season roster, including starting quarterback Marcel Reed's progress amid the Aggies' 1-4 finish to the 2024 season.

This week, Elko spoke to the media about Reed's progress, noting his footwork, confidence, and downfield vision. At the same time, the added weapons at wide receiver and tight end will undoubtedly help him improve overall during his first full starting season.

"The challenge for Marcel (Reed) is he wants to take the next step as a passer, and we want him to take that next step to get where we want to go and what we want to be."

"He's getting more and more comfortable throwing the ball. He had a really good scrimmage the other day throwing the ball."

While Reed's performance will take center stage, Texas A&M's defensive tackle rotation has a depth issue, as DJ Hicks, Albert Regis and former Iowa State DL Tyler Onyedum look like the starters who may need to play more snaps if Elko does not address the position in the spring transfer portal.

However, the secondary, especially the safety room, consisting of Bryce Anderson, Dalton Brooks, Marcus Ratcliffe, Myles Davis, and Jared Kerr, will need to improve in coverage and especially tackling compared to last season's performance.

Lastly, outside of Texas A&M's revamped wide receiver room, sophomore running back Rueben Owens will also be in the spotlight after two injury-riddled offseasons, as this is likely his final shot at making a dent in the running back room, as he needs to live up to his five-star recruiting billing. Ahead of Saturday's game, here is how you can watch for those who won't be attending the game.
