Welcome to the 2025 South Jersey high school lacrosse season.
With the NJSIAA’s new rolling season start dates, the first games of the season began on March 24, but the bulk of South Jersey schools will get underway on Monday, a day before the traditional April 1 start for spring sports across the state.
While some teams get their head-start we’re here to give South Jersey fans a look at the top lacrosse teams in South Jersey with a ‘preseason’ blended Mean 15 of the top boys and girls teams.
2. Moorestown girls (18-4). Forgive us if this sounds like a broken record. New Jersey’s premier lacrosse program won South Jersey Group 3 before falling in the state final. Katie Bianco (65 goals, 10 assists), Mae Murphy (32g, 20a) and Julia Blong (29g, 7a) comprise a trio of exceptional scorers who will maintain the Quakers’ tradition.
3. Shawnee boys (15-4). The Renegades fell to Moorestown in the South 3 final last year but could have the most explosive offense in the area. Lucas Estevez had an 85% win rate at center X, which feeds Thomas McAneney, who scored 70 goals last year, and Tyler Rotkowitz, who added 55.
4. Haddonfield girls (18-3). The Dawgs won yet another South 2 title before falling in the state final. Graduation took its tool but leading scorer Grace Farrell (60g, 29a) returns with Riley Austin (45g, 13a) and Lauren Hamblin (21g, 7a) on tap to pick up the slack.
5. Shawnee girls (16-5). The Renegades fell to Moorestown in the South 3 final. Perhaps the best returning duo in Mackenzie Borbi (59g, 14a) and Abby Davidson (61g, 5a) makes the Blue a good bet to have another elite offense. Kasey Abbott returns in goal.
6. Eastern boys (17-4). The Vikings made it to the Group 4 state final after winning the South 4 crown. Dante Raffaele is back in the crease. Chase Huggard (44g, 43a) and Bruce Magladry (46g, 41a) key a potent offense.
7. Cherry Hill West girls (15-5). The Lions are one of the most explosive teams in the state. Tatum Woods (79g, 22a), Addison Petti (37g, 74a), Samantha Bruno (49g, 36a) and Lilly Legato (49g, 17a) could be the combination that finally solves the South 3 roadblock with Black and Blue.
8. St. Augustine boys (9-8). South Jersey’s lone independent team, the Hermits play a schedule that plays havoc with their record but prepares them for the playoffs. Sebastian Varallo (20g, 20a) and Ryan Wodazak (30g, 10a) return as the anchors on offense.
9. Paul VI girls (14-5). The Eagles had the misfortune of meeting Oak Knoll in a Non-Public A semifinal. Before then, they showed their offensive pedigree. Emma McCarthy (80g, 42 a) and Ava Diaz (83g, 28a) can score on literally anyone.
10. Cherokee boys (11-9). The Chiefs braved a rugged Olympic Conference schedule into a South 4 championship and a berth in the Group 4 final. Ryan Hoffman (54g, 31a) and Luke Ellis (36g, 23a) made up close to half the offense last spring.
11. Clearview boys (12-6). The Pioneers won the Gloucester County Cup before advancing to the South 3 semifinals. Sean Ralph (49g, 29a) and TJ Mills (30g, 18a) will be the starting point for a rebuilt offense.
12. Ocean City girls (17-5). The Red Raiders made it to the South 3 semifinal last spring. Brynn Culmone (31g, 20a), Marley Ostrander (27g, 15a) and Ryan Cook (29g, 5a) return to reload an offense that scored 290 goals last year.
13. Ocean City boys (14-8). The Red Raiders will need to reinvent themselves after big offensive losses to graduation. A return to the South 3 semifinals should start with keeper Henry Vaules. Nolan O’Kane (17g, 8a) is the leading returner to an offense that graduated 193 goals.
14. Kingsway girls (17-6). The Dragons won the South 4 title and made a strong run at the state title. Graduation is the biggest obstacle, though Phoebe O’Rourke (63g, 28a) and Ellie Brook (24g, 12a) return.
15. Holy Spirit girls (16-4). The Spartans made it all the way to the Non-Public B final last season. This spring, with a unified Non-Public Group that road will get harder. Brielle Soltys (55g, 26a) returns, which will help. As will the trio of Taylor Lyons (35g, 25a), Lauren Cella (30g, 11a) and Laura Livingston (21g, 17a).

- Moorestown boys (record last year: 17-5). The Quakers won the Group 3 state title last year which gives then the pole position in this spring’s rankings. Aidan Ruff and Chase Caulder return to an offense that will have some early adjustments to a new lineup. Ryan O’Connor returns as a dominant face-off specialist. Wes Canton will hold down the crease after a sparkling debut as a freshman.
