That would be fine for the fans, but what would be the point for the team? Douglas would help our pass rush and take us to "the next level" which the way I see it is from 2-4 wins to 4-5 wins.
I'm not sure that would be such a great idea. Now, if we could get him for a good price, then great.
I know that everyone is frustrated right now, I know I am, but what everyone is asking for now, is the exact knee jerk reaction that would put us further in our misery. Sure we have tons of cap room, but by using it unwisely, even now will just hurt our rebuilding for years.
Who here honestly thinks, that even if we sign Stewert, Douglas, Pederson, E. Smith, S. Knight, Holiday, Draft Suggs or whoever, that we will be a playoff team?
Then why not take a step back to start the train going in the right direction and build a foundation that maybe in a few years will be just a few upgrades away from a consistent playoff team.
It seems far fetched, but a knee jerk reaction to overpay now, and sign the best left to high contracts doesn't seem to be much of a better path to success.
