The Cardinals said they weren't interested in Douglas, but maybe they should overpay him and Holliday. Holliday can play left end while Douglas can play right End. Normally I'm not for overpaying average players or over age players, but the Cardinals might not have any choice to change the perception of this team among the players and fans.

That would be fine for the fans, but what would be the point for the team? Douglas would help our pass rush and take us to "the next level" which the way I see it is from 2-4 wins to 4-5 wins.
I'm not sure that would be such a great idea. Now, if we could get him for a good price, then great.
I know that everyone is frustrated right now, I know I am, but what everyone is asking for now, is the exact knee jerk reaction that would put us further in our misery. Sure we have tons of cap room, but by using it unwisely, even now will just hurt our rebuilding for years.
Who here honestly thinks, that even if we sign Stewert, Douglas, Pederson, E. Smith, S. Knight, Holiday, Draft Suggs or whoever, that we will be a playoff team?
Then why not take a step back to start the train going in the right direction and build a foundation that maybe in a few years will be just a few upgrades away from a consistent playoff team.
It seems far fetched, but a knee jerk reaction to overpay now, and sign the best left to high contracts doesn't seem to be much of a better path to success.

I don't know if I buy your theory that Douglas rushing off the right side would only be good for a couple of extra wins.

Don't forget the QB's facing pressure have been known to make mistakes and throw interceptions. You could be talking about 4 extra W's- which would put us in 9 & 7 country, a break or two away from nailing a playoff berth.

Knee jerk reaction?!

I know I may have missed something but according to the latest info, the Cards have signed NO ONE and they are all going bye bye by the day.

I really don't want to be the eternal pessimist, but whatever "plan" Graves had is going down the toilet and it's about time to press the panic button.

I do.

Adding those players to the roster we CURRENTLY have now would vastly improve the team.
