We will never ever become an elite team if we keep on letting our good players leave us. So stop it he is here to stay this year and we should start working on a new deal over the next season. and if he won't resign Franchise him. It is about time that this franchise starts to think of the now and what could of been, and keep our best players who have earned what the previously negotiated. Enough is enough...!!! GROW-UP GUY'S GROW-UP. I am tired of paying over $2,000 dollars a year for and also ran franchise.

OK, Bob. If you are OK with paying him virtually $1M per game (at the expense of not being able to sign other key personnel)...well, I wanna drink whatever you're drinking.

The said the same thing when Nolan Ryan was the first player to be paid $1 million per year. Just look at what he turned out to be and, salaries have gone up ever since that contract in every Sport.

In this State we wonder why we rank last or next to last in education for our Kids in Grades Prue-k to High School. We keep on cutting taxes and our education system really sucks. But this is a similar situation on how members of this board feel about paying players what they are really worth.

Famous Jewish quote "WHEN YOU BUY CHEAP YOU GET CHEAP...!!!" In this case cheap means players and staff.

I thought around Wed./Thur. Fitz would finally sign. Originally I thought it would be done before FA. Looks like I was wrong both times. By Monday is my new projection to have him extended.......NO TRADE by the way.........

That's the bad part. You can't "franchise" him next year because he's still under contract next year. If you don't trade him or cut him, he'll count a staggering $17M against the cap next year. You can only franchise tag him once his deal is up which would be the season after next. And if you did franchise tag him then, the $17M he made the year before would drive up the cost of the franchise tender, to be somewhere in the vicinity of what he's going to make this coming year ($14M). You either get this man signed long term, cut him, or trade him. But letting him play out the rest of his contract and franchising him for another season would cost you somewhere in the ballpark of $35M over the next three years.

If Fitz won't budge then you really have no choice but to move him, cut him, or cripple the franchise. It's a messed up situation and IMO, it's bad for football.

So what he earned it and he should be paid. Bring back some players salaries back in line with their performance. To me this would show any new or future players that when you sign a contract and you preform you will be justly rewarded, and if you do not preform you may be asked to renegotiate your contract down to fit your abilities.

Its actually more than that. 14.5 million this year, 17.5 mill next year, and if we franchise him the following year 21 mil base salary (20 percent raise from previous salary) so we are looking at 51 mil over 3 years if he plays out his contract and then is franchised in 2010. Not going to happen.
