6-6 overall, lost 6 of their last 8, and last night lost to a Portland State team that lost 6 seniors off last years team and has 7 Juco players in their first year. Malik Hairston missed the game, haven't seen why yet I know he was one of the players rumored to be unhappy this offseason when all the rumors about Ernie Kent's off court problems surfaced. Pretty much everyone I know close to the situation says kent is gone at the end of the year but if the losing continues, he may go before then.

Kent is in survival mode, he recently benched 2 starters, Bryce taylor, and Ivan Johnson trying to get things turned around. Taylor is a soph guard and was the most rumored to be transferring kid on the team this offseason but he stuck around. It was widely assumed he and Hairston would go pro after this year but right now neither one is playing well enough.

The kids are partly to blame both Taylor and Hairston are a bit too lazy, don't play much defense, and are sulking, but I do feel sorry for those kids, that team has a very talented roster of players, but they lost all respect for their coach this offseason and it's now destroying that team from within.

The PAC 10 has been totally horrible so far. They will get more teams into the tournament than they deserve.

If the season ended today only UW, UCLA, and Arizona would get in. The computers the selection committee uses say all three deserve it too.

Well, those teams do deserve it to this point. And, it's hard to see any of them struggling in the conference play. But, I think this is the lousiest bunch of Pac 10 squads I've ever seen. What sort of seeds do you think those three could get right now? Washington's win over Gonzaga is the only saving grace for the conference so far.

UCLA beat Michigan and Nevada but yeah neither is on par with Gonzaga. Right now UCLA's most impressive game is the comeback loss to Memphis where they made it close.

Shipp looked good last night in his first game, rusty, didn't have a lot of lift off the floor, but he was drilling 3's, poking balls away on D, passing, as he gets into game shape and gets a little lighter on his feet he'll really give UCLA a dimension they didn't have. Of course Bozeman COULD be out for the year with his shoulder injury so they REALLY need Shipp now.

The big news with UCLA is the play of the young bigmen, Mata, Wright, Aboya are all really coming on and Mbah Moute has been good from day 1 and his offense is really coming now too.
