No charcoal grills - fans will have to get a gas grill just for tailgating.
What - there can't be some barrells (sp?) for people to dump ashes in?
Glendale - what a town - they ticket you for parking the wrong way on a residential street.

the few bux don't bother me - it's the banning of a longtime, nationwide tailgating practice by the ninnies that irks me.

Just put charcoal in your gas grill. You can remove the heating element pretty easily and line the bottom with foil. There's ways to get around this....

We use gas anyways. Easier to control the heat. So not one person has to be in charge of the cooking the whole time.

I love cooking with Charcoal. If you've got the time for it. Gas is easier for tailgating though.

Is this true? Charcoal is the only way to tailgate. :)

Gas can be a good thing...

I'm from a BBQ town and if you spend time learning how to smoke with gas you can come real close to the taste of charcoal. Knowing this I've been taking a tank down to tailgate for years. It's just much easier and cleaner.

I have a $99 smoker/grill combo that works great. It consists of a tank, a metal gril/stand, smoking tube, and grill top - if you're looking to grill and not smoke simply remove the middle section.

You're going to have to accept it. Reality is that this parking lot is not very "tailgate friendly" because every space in the lot will be filled and there's not going to be very much open space. The best approach is to hit the park and tailgate on the grass with your gas grill.

Charcoal called, says you don't know what you're talking about and that it's you, in fact, who sucks.

Just relaying the message; thought you should know.

Other highlights of the rules include; the stadium's parking lots will be opened four hours before kickoff and closed one hour after the game. Overnight parking and charcoal grills are prohibited.

While the instructions we get in the mail may be more detailed, I don't see any reference to grassy areas only in the above.

Maybe they had enough problems with people improperly disposing of their remains that they just decided to end the practice. Time to adjust the recipes to tweak the flavor. Use this as a challenge! Then, when you succeed, write a book: Tailgating-The Gas Method.

All right, this made me laugh out loud. Good work.

For what it's worth, CharBroil makes a smokebox for gas grills that you can get for like $20 at Sears, and I'm sure that they have something similar at Home Depot or Lowe's.

The big drawback to this policy is that it's basically impossible to cook with indirect heat with a portible gas grill that likely only has one heating element (like a camping grill--if we tailgate, we don't have a truck to bring). That means no BBQ chicken wings that aren't totally charred. Brats and dogs only.

Could the no charcoal policy have something to do with not mixing drunks with hot coals on dry grass? Not any of us, of course, but say a stray Cowpoke fan?

Ahh, quit your whining. You sound like a litte girl. Real he-men don't even cook their food. As long as you got beer and chips, your every need should be satisfied.;)

Do you think the "no charcoal" policy has anything to do with "no open fires"? Would that policy prohibit smokeboxes as well?

My little box isn't an "open fire". The wood chips just smolder in there because they've been soaked in water for four hours. Much easier to put out and dispose of. I guess you could really just use a pie pan with some holes in it.

as hot as it is in AZ, you don't even need a grill until october. Seriously, anyone who has ever Bar-B-Q (as i like to call it "open air cooking") knows that charcoal is the only way to go. better flavor and to me makes the briscut a whole lot more tender. if hamburgers, dogs, and brats are all you going to grill then gas is ok. imo gas grills are better for grilling your vegetables. cooking your ear corn, stuff peppers, and jalpenos stuffed with cream cheese wrapped in bacon. nothing like it. all this talk about food is making me hungry. excuse me.
