I don't even think we can sign Baker Mayfield to navigate Kyler's recovery period. What's next?

He hates Kliff from the A&M years. Kyler's not going back to full strength by next August.

I'm fully at a loss. Who can we add? Colt can't run the offense next year. Who will want to coach or play here? God.

I pray that Bidwill wakes the **** up, gets rid of KK & Keim, then goes full throttle after Sean Payton. Pipe dream I know but Bidwill could make it happen if he really wants to. Payton could spot someone to come in & run his offense I'm sure. Baker will resign with the Rams I'm sure.

Baker is gonna wait/hope Stafford keeps falling apart.

As far as longshot Payton. Maybe Jameis Winston if the Saints cut him in the offseason.

Either way I expect Keim to be back and the backup to be Colt.

Do they role with mcCoy or sign a retread with upside?

There are quite a few options that should come cheap. Marcus Mariota is getting cut. Mayfield, Darnold likely doesn't resign, PJ Walker, Teddy B, Gardner Minshew.

But my money would be on them rolling with McCoy until whenever Kyler is healthy. He's shown he can win games as much as those guys.

Imo No chance that either Kliff or Keim or both get fired now with Kylers ACL tear. No chance! It’s a built in excuse for Michael to stay the course. Ugh

Sad thing is nothing is gonna happen, Kk and SK will be here next year

Sadly,,this now appears to be right. Bidwill is caught in the mouse trap and doesn't want to pay-out KK and SK going through the backdoor, and then look at outlaying more dollars for replacements with KM in IR $tatus.

We need to remember that Bidwill's expenses for the team's new 777 jet > pilots, maintenance, hanger fees, hi cost of jet fuel, etc are pinching Mike's billfold flat at the moment. He can't raise ticket prices with this team's losing record.

Mariota makes the most sense to me.

If we got Payton, Teddy B wouldn’t be a bad stop gap and had success in Payton’s offense..he’s been a lot better player than Colt and I’m almost certain he’s a future head coach from all I’ve read.

Off your list I think Minshew would be a good short term guy. Mariota can't throw the ball at all so if you roll with him you're wasting money on WR's. I don't want Winston he's matured but he's still so turnover prone and I can't imagine how many INT's he would have had this year with our OL.

My big fear is that Colt plays out this year and then retires happy he got to play often his last year but with the reality that he got beat up and doesn't want to take any more hits.

I don't think Colt wouldn't turn down the chance to start. If it looks like Kyler is still recovering and will miss 4-5 games then Colt is the kind of guy that would grasp any chance to start more games.

I love Colt but if you look at him on the bench at the end of the game last night just beat down and project him playing 4 more games and then starting the season next year, at his age would not stun me if he retired. I hope he doesn't.

Teddy B would also be a good choice as others said he's also the type of guy you'd want around Kyler since he's rehabbed himself from major surgery. I guess Winston did too in that regard.

What does Colt's contract money look like for next year?
Personally, I like to see us go with youth, so someone with four or five years in the league?

I could live with Minshew as a temp QB

Nothing is going to happen. Keim and Kliff will return. We will hear how Kyler is “ ahead of schedule” but will be placed on PUP LIST.
McCoy will be our Qb and we will go 3-6 clinging to the hope that Kyler is “ just about ready “ to return but he won’t until week 13.
By then we will be 5-8. Kyler will return and look like crap needing to get up to game speed. We will go 2-2 with Kyler and end up 7-10.
We’ll be bamboozled about how great the future looks for the 2024 season.
