Have they ever done that? Has the Kool-aid crew ever really challenged your fanhood or shouted you or anyone down for a reasonable post such as this? I haven't seen it (I know, one man's reasonable is another's over-reaction).

I have seen several posters respond to the over-abundance of spewing that's dominated this board of late. It seems to me though that most of them are complaining only about the VERY few that have skipped the "let's question the coach and his decisions" and moved straight on to "let's fire the head coach and most of his staff".

BTW, I agree with your post. Even though I'll stubbornly hold on to a tiny bit of hope right up until the moment we are mathematically eliminated, a loss this weekend would almost definitely end our marginal playoff hopes. As you said, it will tell us all we really need to know about these guys.

Massive game for us on Sunday, thing is we win with the points coming from the right side of the ball and i can see us moving onward and upward.

I for one, would prefer the team plays exactly to its current capabilities....another div title banner would be cool,....but I do not like the idea of this coaching staff getting any sort of kudos after the complete ******* brainfart they pulled with the off season...

I'm something of a kool-aider in that I always think they're going to get it done until they prove otherwise, but as I posted somewhere else there's a world of difference between 4-5 and 3-6. Just from watching years of football we're all familiar with the kind of runs teams can actually go on. Even if .500 takes the division, 5-2 is a lot to ask from this team, even with the favorable schedule towards the end of the season.

Sorry. I'm not buying - anymore than I'd buy the Niners being ruled out of the playoffs after going 0 & 5 or 6.

There are ups, downs and bumps in the road during the typical 16 game season. While certainly a loss to Seattle would put us behind the 8-Ball (as well as being an indicator suggesting that we're not very good), strange things can happen:

Injuries: Looking at QB only - If Hasselbeck were to re-injured, Seattle could lose 100% of their remaining games. If Bradford were to get injured, who do they have behind them? And the Niner QBing situation is far from stable.

Schedule: Some teams in our division have a worse remaining home/away mix on their schedule than we do.

Closeness of Teams: Suppose we were to lose to Seattle and then run the table against StL and the Niners. Meanwhile, Seattle loses the rest of their division games. Despite losing both games to the Seahawks, we could still find ourselves in the mix by Game 15 or 16.

Each season, there are teams who appear to be shoe-ins earlier in the season who end up out of the playoffs, and there are also one or two teams that somehow "come back from the dead." It happens every year. Why can't it be us?

Meanwhile, it would be far cooler if we simply went out and took care of Seattle.

I don't think it is a lack of seeing the talent level of our team, but an acceptance of the situation, and moving forward.

The team is pretty poor, that is the situation.

Moving forward the question is what is this team going to do over the next 8 weeks. With the division being so poor, and the race being so tight, that anything could happen.

I agree with the post that we are probably out of it with a loss this weekend, but then again I also agree our team was not going to make it to the postseason anyway. Furthermore, if they did make the postseason it would take a minor miracle to win said game.

I have few non-playoff goals for this season, that I personally am following, that the "my only goal is a Super Bowl" crowd will not understand (not that there is anything wrong with that).

1. Beat the Cowboys at home

2. Sweep the Niners.

8 weeks to go. Only 8 more games till we talk about things worse than bad QB's and poor coaching. Lockouts and such........

I think We win at home. but it will be ugly again. I'll love go to the SB ugly again, if I have my way. I have the wind sucked out of me all season, try to rewatch games on DVR but they all suck. Beanies hurt, Fitz is neutralized, Whiz screwed the pooch on DA over Matty fiasco.

My favorite cardinal Hayes is back with his lunch pail, I think He stabalizes the middle of the defense and re-establishes himself as the engine of this defense. So DD/porter/DRC can do the superstar thingy again.

We aint even close on any criteria, last in everything but talent and record (thank the football Gods for St Louis and the RAIDERS) in the NFCW.

That is quoted from THESMEL, and it says everything. If we lose this game, chances are the season is lost as well. I don't want the Cards to get back to the scrub life mentality it took years eradicate. I wanna see some damn football I can thump my lil bird chest to.

We need a win like now. It can be ugly, probably will be, but I'd friggin love to see us hit on all cylinders just once this year, and no better week than this.

It is always nice to still be in the hunt although in your heart you know we are not going to advance any further than one game into the playoffs. That indeed would be a miracle. There was an article in either the WSJ or USA today with the title being "Breakup the NFL West". It sadly was funny but true just how pathetic our conference is. We are so bad and our conference so bad that we have become satire for USA Today or the WSJ. If we lose Sunday we may not be mathematically eliminated but we are eliminated.

It is a long season and you cant count anyone out. BUT so far we have not stepped up and played like we want to win much.

I think we'll win, and I think we'll go on a run the 2nd half of the season. Anderson has to have a few good games in him, and maybe one great game. Percentages alone would say that, he'd have to be so horribad not to have at least a few good games that it's unthinkable.

Unlike--it seems--many people, I want us to win the division and go to the playoffs, because no one will convince me what any of these players can do when it comes to the playoffs. I never count anyone out. There's been some crappy QB's to win a SB, but they were able to limit their mistakes come the playoffs, and no one thought they would when it happened. And people never talk about the experience these players gain going into the playoffs. Especially the younger players. That carries over and improves our team as a whole. You can only get that experience in the playoffs. It's ridiculous not to want to win or expect to win. All it does is improve our team. Next year is next year, we'll get to it when we're done with Sunday.

Well eventually you have to drop over the edge and quit being delusional about your football team. And usually it is one game that does it. This year though instead of the 8th loss marking the end of the season for teams in the NFC West it might carry on to the 9th or even 10th.
