The reasoning behind it is because he's old and they want to keep him healthy and fresh to insure he can give his all in the playoffs. As bad as we play without him though we might as well sit Nash and Hill at the same time because we're not as competitive when he sits lately, and well... they're old aso, right? So they probably need their rest to be effective in the playoffs.

I get the philosophy behind it. Certainly a better rested Shaq in the playoffs is an advantage.

However, I don't understand the rationale Porter is using to determine which game of a back to back Shaq is going to sit. Why sit him on the road against a good team like Denver, where we really need him more and where he likely would have been the difference between a win and a loss? Then he plays against Minnesota at home?

I think they would have a better chance of beating the T-Wolves at home without Shaq than Denver on the road.

I've been thinking about it for a day, and the only reason I can conclude with is money.

Fans are going to pay to see Shaq play at home. They ($arver and the GM) are not going to bench a starter who is healthy just so he stays that way on back 2 back games. I bet you Porter didn't want to sit Shaq last night, but had someone tell him Shaq needs to play Minnesota at home.

Actually it is quite a smart move. More rest for the gentle giant makes a more happy and dominate player. This is all done so he keeps his wind and for the post-season. Keep in mind, there are no back-to-backs then.

There'll also be no playoffs for a 50 win team in the 9th spot.

The only reasons I could come up with is they didn't want him playing in the Denver altitude or maybe because Carmello was out so they thought they didn't need him. It was stupid to sit him last night instead of tonight.

I thought about the altitude as well. Thats about the only other reason I could think of. I felt that they needed the DEN game for tie breakers and confidence playing a top 3 team in the West.

There going to have another set of back to backs (Sun @ TOR, Mon vs. BOS) I bet he sits the Canada game and plays the Celtics at home again, which he probably should do.

Wow, a little too soon for that kinda talk.

Disagree. Last year GS missed with 48 wins, and things look as tight or tighter this year. 3 games separate 2nd seed from 8th seed, and in 2 to 3 games most of the league will have played 1/2 their schedule.

Start Lou on days that Shaq rests and move Amare back to C.

Who's with me?

I must say that I have to come down a bit about from bringing Shaq off of the bench. It was never about Shaq and how he has played, but about how poor the rotations have been at the beginning of the year. (and last year) Shaq needs to be in the game every minute that Nash is not. Porter has begun to play Nash until the end of the 3rd Q. I wish he would rest in the 3rd and play the entire 4th instead, but it is getting better.

He has to guard Al Jefferson tonight because even 2 Amare's cant do it.

Why he doesnt play like 15 minutes one game is beyond my comprehension though.

When the going gets tough, the tough put on a business suit and sit in the second row?

Not very Shaqesque (20 point scrabble word)
