I'm installing spam assassin at home, because my wife is starting to complain about the amount of spam she is getting. Its a server level solution though, so I don't think that would work for you unless you have your own domain.

I changed the security settings to block cookies and it has helped a bit, but I still get hundreds a day. I only use my yahoo email for web stuff and keep my cox email for family and friends. Every time I do a google search, I end up with spam from that same topic. :(

You have spyware on your compoooter..... download Ad-aware or Spybot and do a scan of your compoooter.

Is your spam hitting your yahoo or your cox account?

If it is yahoo, I would go ahead and get rid of that account and sign up with a new one.

If a website asks you for an email addy for access, I use a mailinator account. This is an email account that is created on the fly (you don't have to even go to their website to sign up) with whatever address you use. You can then check your account for the next few hours then it is blown away.

Nope, only hits my yahoo since I don't use my cox email anywhere on the web.

Funny thing was that I ran the updated Spybot and AdAware on Monday and promptly lost my internet connection. So I had to use the most recent restore point and then all was fine.

If nothing works, backup all your documents, files, etc... and reformat your hard drive.

I reformat my computer at least once a year.

What is everyone using to stop it?

We're all giving your email address to the spammers so they'll bother you and leave us alone. :D
