Well not so much a dream, but a discussion my friend brought up and really had me worried... He mentioned the lineup Atlanta could put on the floor if they got the #2 pick in the draft.

Conley or Law
Johnson
Smith
Durant
Williams/Pachulia

with Childress, Williams, and Pachulia/Williams coming off the bench...

To me that lineup could do decent in the east and turn the high draft pick we've all been looking forward to into a mid round gamble...

The only rebuttal I had was that they were still Atlanta, so they would find a way to collapse. What would you guys think about the Hawks if they sent out a lineup like that next year?

Don't worry, the Hawks will find a way to suck next year, regardless of the pick the end up with.

Conley won't last to their later pick. ;)

Yeah, I think so too, that is why I put or Law... but I did see at least one site (nbadraft.net) had Conley going to Atl at their 2nd pick, so I figured I would put it in there...

I actually think Law would be a better fit for them as far as doing better next year since that lineup already has a ton of scoring, but Conley is going to be a better point guard in the long run...

do the Hawks have TWO lottery picks? They have the Pacers pick, right? Is it protected? Has anyone imagined THIS nightmare:

with the first two picks in the NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks select: Greg Oden and Kevin Durant.

Yes they have the possibility of 2 lottery picks...but it's Billy Knight making the decision!!!

If the Hawks get a top-two pick, they will have to suck more than usual to not make the playoffs. They would have a decent chance of making it to the second round of the playoffs, in all likelihood. If they get the 3rd pick and draft Wright and a non-PG, the Suns may have a decent lottery shot next year.

The problem is that next years draft doesn't look that deep, so even if the Suns do get a high pick, they won't get near the talent with it that they would this year.

Hawks will be a lot better next year, even if they don't add anybody through the draft. All they have to do is stay reasonably healthy and have their young players improve slightly.

Add in the #3 overall pick, and they'd probably compete for a playoff spot.
