Way too many reasons to list. If his in game management doesn't infuriate you, well......wow is all I can say.

Go away Bob!!!!

Bring on Gibson!!

Thank you. That is all.

No, that is not all. I HATE Melvin. Stupid decision after stupid decision, after stupid decision. What an idiot! Eveland coming in for relief with an over 8 era in a one run game when Nippert is available who has only had ONE bad outing? IDIOT!!! (For all of you who thought Nippert needed to go down to "work on things" here's a little info: His era prior to being sent down was 0.00)

Pinch hitting Montero with Callaspo and Hairston on the bench in a ONE RUN game? Let's see.....who is faster on the basepaths....Callaspo/Hairston or Montero? It's a one run game you idiot!!!

In conclusion let me sum up with this: *&%#!%#*!@%*$#*&!

Seconded, though I would say "Bring on Chip Hale"

Because seriously, Chip Hale is the coolest name ever. It seems like someone who would be in a sitcom in the '50s.

So....you think Melvin's doing an o.k. job so far this year? I'm trying to understand your point, but you were a little ambiguous. Help me here.

So it looks like Melvin starts Tracy at 1st tonight.

Melvin sucks. Let the guy play a single position. Period. End of story.

As I posted to Page 3 of the "%$#@& Rookies" thread a few days ago:

Melvin's behavior is typical of the personality traits he exhibits.

Always hedging. Afraid to say something too strong about anything.

He doesn't usually say what he means . . . then that leads to not meaning what you say.

I think that psychological testing would show that he lacks leadership ability. He should not be representing the team to the public. Or making the day-to-day decisions.

At best, he is a career Bench Manager, but only to a free-spirited Manager.

Remember, he failed in his last (only) Managerial position, and was bypassed by the D'backs when Wally Backman was chosen.

Then, in a desperate decision (when something had to be done quickly), he was named.

It looks like the Diamondbacks are careless in screening and evaluating their candidates.

Luckily, they have Chip Hale, who has already proved himself as a Manager within the organization.

Even if they consider Kirk Gibson, I hope someone knowledgable evaluates whether he has the potential administrative skills to be the guy at the top. Or whether his skill lies as a rah-rah influence. I think the latter may be the case.

Chip Hale now! Before Melvin has the further opportunity to ruin the best young talent pool in Major League baseball. Let him nervously pick his pimples and cover his mouth when he speaks somewhere else.

Would the Diamondbacks front office fire Melvin this year? He signed a two-year contract.

You can't put a price on having a scapegoat.
Was this written by Melvin?

An aggressive Manager isn't a victim, he's a leader.

If he does the best with what he has, he's doing a job.

Clearly Bob Melvin, and his manage-by-the-seat-of-your-pants approach, isn't getting his team to over-achieve (or just plain achieve, for that matter).

He's not a scapegoat. He's a bad Manager. A stopgap who hasn't grown during his two managerial assignments.

The Peter Principle (written many years ago) -- "In a hierarchy, every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence." -- sure applies here.

Bench the hot player. Bat people all over the lineup without rhyme or reason. Act as though throwing a temper tantrum to an umpire once in awhile is the same as motivating a team daily.

Time to cut our losses and move on. We sure have good candidates waiting in the wings.

Is there anyone in the Press, on the team, in the stands or in front of the TV who would think he's being wronged?

Over the years, I have come to believe no truer words were written when it pertains to business, and I agree with you here.

Wow, 2 men on, 2 outs, Doug Davis has thrown over a hundred pitches and got you 6 great innings, and you let him bat for himself Bob Melvin? Why not add on and hand this one to the pen?

Someone ought to buy tickets in the front row of the upper deck opposite from the D'backs bull pen and bring and hang a huge "FIRE MELVIN" sign from the guard rail.

I hate Melvin.

Seriously, does anybody remember the scene in "The Waterboy" when the last game is going bad and the coach (Henry Winkler) slinks backwards between the players and disappears?

That look on Winklers face is the EXACT same look Melvin has on his face when things start going wrong. The look of a totally defeated coward.

REFUSING to send runners who obviously can steal (Byrnes and Young), putting on the hit-and-run (which NEVER works) instead of straight stealing, INSISTING on using Papa Fatso who has lucked his way into his saves, sitting the hot bat (Tony Clark) in favor of Jackson------

(as a side note, WHY if Melvin believes in Conor, did he change his defense in the ninth tonight with the game on the line? Notice going into the ninth he subbed in Quentin and Clark. So if he believes that it is of uber-importance to have his best defensive team on the field in the ninth, than why not the entire game? I know Quentin has something like a .017 average right now, but Clark has the hot bat, and is better defensively than Conor....just another thing you wouldn't see any other manager doing).

The six words I dread the most: It's decision time for Bob Melvin.

They won't let you into the ballpark with a sign like that, I suspect, but if anyone wants to try, I'll join you.

A few years back we discussed hanging Joe G Jr. in effigy in Copper Square. Always a fun option.

Well if you made it of cloth, like a long strip of white cloth, and had it folded up really small in a backpack, I suspect they wouldn't make you unfurl the whole thing at the gate.

I often bring in a backpack w/ water bottles in it, and have towels bellow the water bottles so that the water doesn't make a mess, you could make it look like this is what you were doing.....or something.
