Becomes the next Cris Carter, wins four Super Bowls, becomes one of the first WRs to win MVP, and gets a contract with $40 million guaranteed.

Seriously? Mitch says that Fitz "isn't even that good"?

Sorry guys, but we as fans obviously don't know what to do when our Top 5 pick inexplicably works out and performs up to his draft status. We obviously don't deserve Larry Fitzgerald, who plays 60 out of a possible 64 games in his career, make the Pro Bowl twice, and is the first Arizona Cardinal to actually start the Pro Bowl in recent memory.

So, Fitz, I hope you get traded to a team and a fan base that will appreciate you. You deserved the contract that you got here, and you deserve the money that you've earned. But we obviously haven't earned the opportunity to watch you play. Especially after you took this offense on your back for 9 weeks this season when Boldin went down and people here don't think "you're even that good."

I completely agree that he is a great player and I want him around for his entire career. I think you will have a hard time finding anyone that thinks otherwise, but at what expense is the question. His agent only wants a 4 year deal, so we can do this all over again in 3 years. Just give him 35 mil over 5 years, with 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, and 10m salaries. Thats 55 mil over 5 years, in year 5 renegotiate it. If he turns that down then I don't think you have any choice but to trade him.

With you on this one 100%

If Fitz leaves, Graves head should be on a platter

I am a huge Fitz fan and I hope the cardinals do whatever it takes to get a deal done we will really miss Fitz production if he is not with us anymore, you can't replace a guy like fitz that easily. I really believe the cards will get this done and sign Fitz to a long contract

The problem is...he wants the money, and not the extension. Don't you get it?

If you won $10 mil at work in bonuses, wouldn't you want it before your employment continued? That means that signing an extension would only net him $15 mil. Nevr in my life have I ever heard of another NFL player getting $5mil for making the Pro Bowl. Graves and his staff should be dismissed.

Who cares whether we get it or not? Sometimes someone elses logic just doesn't matter to another person

I don't particularly care what the problem is, I just want Fitz to play for the Cards.

There really hasn't been a player for the Cards that I have truely enjoyed watching since Larry Centers. Before that I have to go back to Jetstream/Mitchell/Lomax/Gray/Hart. I mean, its like decades between the times I get to enjoy these types of guys play.

I'll be really sad if he leaves, but I'll get over it and still continue to follow the team.

Whether or not I 'get' it, whatever 'it' is, doesn't matter a tinkers damn at this point

Good post. I agree wholeheartedly with you...I like watching Fitz and I want to continue to watch Fitz too...but I also want to finally watch a winner in Arizona and the odds of that happening with Fitz taking up 1/6 of the cap are virtually slim to none.

Please do not confuse silence on this issue with agreement.

I took your "pledge" (that you, yourself, brought up a week ago) and just because I'm not arguing with every crackpot idea, it doesn't imply that I am agreeing with them. After all, who has the time refute all this nuttiness?

I, for one, think that this situation will sort itself out and that Fitz will be a Cardinal next year and that there is a very good chance that he will be one the year after that , and the next one, too. But if he's gone - well, I was a fan before he was drafted, and I'll be one after he leaves.

So far you have been somewhat of a voice of reason on this issue. Please don't lose your cool now, or Linda will have to come over and spank you (nttawwt :))

Because he can't convince Fitz to renegotiate? Yeah right.

Why should Fitz have to renegotiate?????? He should be able to get his $14.5 this coming season and then can restructure after that. Once again, Graves did this. What don't people understand?

Graves made the bed, now he has to sleep in it

Our GM said we are prepared to operate with Fitz at that cap number. Surely he wasn't trying to pull some sort of goofy bluff, was he?

So, I fully expect us to make the playoffs this year. We were a single missed FG from a winning record and a playoff berth last year, despite being maybe the sloppiest team in the NFL at times.

He should renegotiate because:

A. It is in his best interest financially. Especially if he gets hurt.

B. It helps the team to stay competative (which anyway you slice is something he SHOULD want) If he doesnt then his loyalties are skewed.

I believe you're the one who doesn't understand. There is nothing wrong with this contract. All teams have contracts just like this one. It only becomes a problem if the players hits all the incentives. Fitz hit them. He will get paid his $14.5 mil and a whole lot more but the question is as Mitch says, "Is he worth it?"

Because NFL contracts are back-loaded funny money.

Fitz is an awesome receiver with hands of Velcro, but he is not worth the #3 salary in the NFL. He has no burn speed to get separation. That is a hell of a lot of money to pay someone who touches the ball 10-12 times per game.

Is he worth a $25M bonus over 3-4 years? Yes, absolutely. Is he worth 1/6 of the teams salary cap, no.

Even the 10-12 is severely pushing it Jw7. Its actually nmore like 6-7 touches per.

While I understand what you guys are saying, you can't narrow down the impact of top WRs to just their touches. Their presence on the field opens up opportunities for other players that they wouldn't get with a guy like Bryan Gilmore, or even Bryant Johnson, out there.

I was under the impression we all appreciated Fitz and liked him playing for us.

Things sure get twisted around here sometimes.

I am miffed at Fitz, yes, but I don't WANT him out. I want him to help the team off the field the way he does on the field, and I'm disappointed that he's not doing that. I can understand fans being upset with him, but to say he's "not that good," well that's just silly.

What I really want is for Fitz to end this crap, restructure, help the team, and be a Cardinal for life. I just want him to be one we can afford, that's all.

you don't trade a guy who has his career pointing at the Hall of Fame and one day could end up in the Ring of Honor for POTENTIAL.

You don't trade a gold in hand for somone's empty gold mine.
or a fool and his gold are soon parted
