I think it's time to give Hairston a shot at starting every day

I think Melvin needs to give Scott a shot at starting every day in the outfield. He was locked in tonight.

In lieu of whom?

I think giving up on Quentin now would be premature and Young is playing very well. I wouldn't be opposed to having him start and Byrnes get traded, but Byrnes too is playing well.

On a rotation basis. Have Carlos sit a game, than Byrnes, then Young. Everyone keeps saying this team needs more pop in the lineup and Hairston should be able to see if he can provide that.

How about sending Quentin to Tucson to see if he can regain his stroke and in the meantime start Hairston and see if he can win the job outright. Worse case Hairston shows enough to be trade bait based on potential and Quentin regains his stroke in Tucson and is recalled and goes on a crazy hitting tear because he's pissed off to have been sent down. I can dream can't I?

The issue with that is it leaves us without a right fielder defensively. Byrnes or Young can play RF in a pinch, but it isn't something that you would want to make a habit of on any sort of consistent basis.

Wait until divisional play then, it's not like any of the other geriatric-laden NL West squads can go from first to third.

Yeah, that .231 average just screams, "put me in coach!!!"

LMAO... was thinking the same thing. I swear the D-Backs are the best at producing outfielder who can jut barely hit above the Mendoza line, bring zero power to the game and frustrate the hell out of you...

Quentin needs to be put down, like NOW! He sucks... Hairston is a very minor, and I mean MINOR improvement...
The D-backs need OFFENSE in a huge way, yet they have nothing to offer in the way of hope...

Quentin needs to be sent down but at the same time so does half the offense. Quentin, Young, Drew and Snyder all have sub .300 OBP :bang:

The worst thing about all the young guys struggling is it makes it near impossible to trade Eric Byrnes before he goes into his typical 2nd half nose dive :(
