The problem is that type of playcalling only works in the NFL against the Cardinals. Wouldn't surprise me to see the Bidwills make an inquiry though, it would be a nice story to gain some momentum with the locals heading into next season.

It was great play calling. But what really sticks out to me was the execution of the plays. Boise State did about 6 trick plays to win and all were executed very well, including a play that was designed to pitch back to the QB and the RB realizing that OSU had the QB covered and just ran for it. It's not like they practice these trick plays all the time. But under intense pressure, the team executed those plays to perfection. That's just good solid coaching.

Also another thing I noticed was the Head coach gave credit to the backup QB for making up that fake throw/ hand off for the 2 point play. That means the Coach listens to his team and acts upon the good ideas. Quality all the way.

I'd interview the guy for sure, it was quality coaching from top to bottom that won that game.

First of all he had all those trick plays in the bag, the hook and ladder they worked on every week so he was confident in calling it.

He knew at all the right game moments that his team was outgunned and he just kept reaching in and pulling out everything he had to get his team a chance.

You could do worse, a lot worse than that guy.

Then again he just reached his zenith, that was done with the other guys recruits and he'll probably fade off into oblivion but .... he still deserves an NFL interview just for that one game.

Chris Petersen showed more creative coaching and cajones in this one game than the Cardinals' staff did in eight games at home this year. Talk about pulling out all the stops! Wow! And Steve...you are right on...the execution of those plays was darned near flawless, even when the plays started to break down, the players knew exactly how to react. Amazing.

The fact that Petersen did this in our own house makes me all the more interested in this coach...good karma, for sure!

They practice them all the time, and even have done some of them in games this season.

I realize talk is cheap, but before the game, Peterson waxed enthusiastic about the "just folks" (how safe downtown is) lifestyle in Boise and intimated that he didn't plan to go anywhere.

I was thinking the same thing. Ironically, the very first play of the Green era was a Flea Flicker.

I had mine extended 1 hour past the end time, and it still cut short and ended midway through the 4th. I'm not sure what happened there. I still had a lot of time left, and a lot of space left. I'm probably going to buy the DVD they are preselling right now.

That is true. I spent 3 months in the early 90's living there and at the time, Boise had gone 2 full years without a single homicide. That is my dream job - Boise homicide detective. That dude has to be an expert at crossword puzzles.

Love that place. It would be easily my choice of where to live if I had to move out of Phoenix.

It was great to see Boise St. win. I was rooting so hard for them.

I don't think Boise States coach is even close to ready for the NFL. I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth saying how good a job he did.

I grew up in Boise from 9th grade on. I went to University of Idaho, so BSU is really the enemy, but I cheer for the underdog and my home town when I have a chance. Boise is a good place to live. My mom lives near downtown, so I visit every few years. They had growing pains with traffic and such. The nice thing about Boise is they have great weather. The city is actually in a desert, up against the foothills. So all the cold weather and snow is farther north. Winters are mild, but they do have some snow. Summers are hot (not Arizona hot). They have all 4 seasons and fun outdoor life is only a few hours car drive away. If they ever get a pro football team, I'll probably move back. Until then, I'm a Cards fan.

Me too. Last year watching my ex girlfriend's son play frosh soph ball in HS one of the teams they played(my old HS actually) did that like 3 times and each time it was a different play. In their case their coach had warned them all week and they stopped the play all 3 times.

Not to mention strategic. As one announcer said during the game..."and Boise St. is hanging in with the big boys without any trickery. Straight up game calling and their in this..." Boise St. was leading most of the game and didn't need gimicky plays. When the game was slipping away he broke out the alternative playbook. That coach broke out the trickery, and plenty of it, at all the right times. He had the Oklahoma D so confused that they didn't know what to defend!!! I agree. That coach has brains, he has strategy, he has big F'in balls, and I would definitely take a chance with him as our HC!

How many fake punts did you see in the NFL this year? One? Two? no more I bet! Fear of losing your job has made all playcalling in the NFL very vanilla. This guy might actually be able to keep teams on reeling with uncertainty...what a complete 180 from Green!!
