I wanted Hasselbeck or Kyle Orton in the offseason, and I didn't think Kolb was proven enough to be "the guy". I like what I've seen so far.......leadership, scrambling ability and an accurate arm.
He's got one of the league's best in Fitzgerald......all we need is for the O-Line to gel a bit more (yes, people will hate the word "bit"), Beanie to stay healthy and a new WR2 (my sole opinion, I think) and we'll develop nicely.
I have to preface this by saying, I'm pretty pumped about Kolb. However, I don't think he's played that well this season. And one trend from last game and even the game before (but more last game) was his tendency for impatience, getting happy feet, staring down receivers, etc. Every bad tendency for a QB, he's done it. Yesterday was notable because he was obviously skittish. Even the times he was in the pocket he was bouncing around and looking for an out. Not good. You can't make all your reads if you're already looking for escape routes after your 2nd read. It makes for bad football. Where it really shows is on 3rd downs. I said last week guys, we have to punt way too often in critical situations and especially on 3rd downs. We don't even move the ball, it's like we're a few runs, a few first downs, and if we don't make the big play we punt. It's ridiculous. Drive down there and score in the red zone for goodness sakes. Utterly ridic.
And I'm tired of hearing that Beanie isn't injury prone. The dude has missed games and he always has. Last week man, when you're trying to dig out a win, all I have to say is he wasn't there, he wasn't in the trenches sweating and trying to eek out a win against a bad freaking team. There's dudes you can count on in the trenches and dude's you just don't know, and he falls into the latter category. And I don't want to hear it was coaches decision, if you don't practice you most likely won't play, Whis has always done that.
