If loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

The writing is on the wall and I was wrong. I thought Matt Leinart would be our starting QB this year. Barring injury, I was sure of it. Everything I have seen, and know, indicated he was the choice most likely to lead us to victory. It will not come to pass.

Coach Whisenhunt is making a bold and vastly unpopular decision. I do not understand the reasoning behind it, but I believe our Coach sees it as clear as the Phoenix sun. Perhaps Coach believes that with Matt our ability to succeed is limited and he wants more than 9-7. Perhaps he is willing to roll the dice on DA having a one in four chance of having a pro-bowl season. I don’t know. I do trust Coach to make the decisions he believes are necessary to win a championship. That does not mean I believe he is right.

I would rather be wrong and win, than to be right and fail. The future is unwritten. Coach Whisenhunt has permanently stamped his image on this team. To the players and the fans, there is no doubt who the boss is.

To those who dislike Matt I say: do not gloat in a man’s defeat. You do not know the final outcome.

To those who love Matt I say: it is not fairness in life which builds character. Do not shed a tear for one so blessed with talent.

To those who think our Coach is an idiot or liar I say: Your judgment is not the one that matters and you do not hold the same facts as he.

And, to those who say “In Whiz We Trust”: I remind them he is just a man, capable of grave error.

Our coach appears to have made “the tough choice”. If Matt had become our QB for three years of wandering in the desert of mediocrity, would we be satisfied? I say no. If Derek fails miserably, will we be satisfied with “I told you so”? Again, I say no.

I was wrong in my expectations, but, I love OUR team. Rise up Red Sea. Our Coach is shocking the world and ours. This is not the time to turn and run. Now is the time for us to Do This Together.

I love Whiz and i guess now we find out just how good he is!

Not saying this was ever Warners team and not the coaches but he is about to make the biggest choice since.....well, the last time he dropped Matt ;)

I think he is going to go with Timmy over Beanie too so it going the be all on the line from the start - and i cant bloody wait!

Actually, Beanie is a fine running back when he doesn't put the ball on the turf. His problem is his intangibles like blocking and catching the ball are not on par with THT. I sure would like to see him fix those so he can be considered the starter.

I think Beanie is beyond fine. Problem is TH has done nothing to lose his job. Has looked real good. The bears game opened my eyes about TH running in the middle.

Good problem to have.

Agree on the one, and we know he cn hot a home run too.

I think we all like Beanie over THT but he needs to hold onto the ball and make those easy dumps on a regular basis before Whiz trusts him to carry the load.

Great post Carddan!!

I was thinking the exact same things last night. For example, I do trust in the Whis; however, he is neither perfect nor sacrosanct. I cant say I would do the same if I was in his shoes, unless there is something real wrong behind the scenes, in which we know nothing about. Because he is about to give away a QB who has been immersed in the system for 3 years and for all intents and purposes has had a fine preseason.

The real reason I have a problem with this is who the next starter is and the proposed back ups. Derek Anderson is one of the most frightening QBs I have ever seen play. Yes, he is capable of making the big throws, but he is also very capable of abysmal performances which include multiple turnovers, sub 40% completion games or both. And when I see him play in preseason, I dont see a different QB. I see the same guy who was in Cleveland that got beat out by Brady Quinn, who I feel is less of a QB than Matt Leinart. Rocky times for Cards fans right now

Bump this..

Sadly, it is very true that Coach Whiz is capable of a grave error (DA over Matt being one), however "In Whiz We Trust!" as he has certainly earned our undying respect and implicit trust.

Rise up Red Sea!!

The winds of change are blowing in the desert; summoned by a man called The Whiz. In some corners fear and darkness are looming, while in others the sun is shining bright. Across the entire wasteland of this franchise, the wind is stirring the Sea. Together we will rise. Above the fear and doubt the depth of our conviction will grow. Rise up Red Sea. The time to shed fear is now. We Do This Together.

Darn, when I read the title, I thought I was going to get to read another love letter to a departing QB. Instead I get a well-written, thoughtful post on our current situation.

I was worried for second too; but it didn't have that surreal, nyquill, feeling to it.

Great post Carddan, I came to a similar conclusion last night.

I was talking to a friend and he was so frustrated by all this that he was like; 'man I swear, part of me is going to root for DA to fail now.'

That was my Aha moment.

I'm like wooooaaaahh there tiger, pump the breaks. I will NEVER root for this team, my team, the Cardinals to lose. It's not gonna happen.

I have 0 faith in DA, I think he sucks, I dont agree with him being our QB, but am I going to root for him to fail? No way in hell is that happening. Like CARDDAN said, I would rather be wrong. I would much rather someone revisit this thread in December when we're crusing to another NFCWC and say, "HAHA Bert you said DA sucks!" that will be the most delicious crow ever and I will eat it gladly.

Anyways, like you said Dan, we dont have all the facts. I have no idea what's really going on with Matt. Maybe he's a total toolbag and nobody wants to say it. I dont know, and it just seems silly for me to strongly protest something that I dont have anywhere near close to all the facts.

In short:

GO CARDINALS!

Cryptic birthday message.....

I was over the neighbors' house last nite to celebrate a good friends' birthday. This painting hangs on their wall...

Just when the caterpillar thought it was the end of the world...

He became a butterfly!

I smiled! The 2010 Cardinals?? I can't see the future. Shoot! I can't see 5 minutes from now. But, I'd rather believe in the good than the bad.

Do YOU believe in MIRACLES!?! U.S.A.-4 RUSSIA-3.

Just sayin'. GO CARDS! :D

Way ta' rally the troops, Carddan! :)

Whiz has been on more football teams, more coaching staffs, in more locker rooms and more film rooms than any of us. If he honestly believes that Matt is not the guy, and he can convince Graves and Mike, then I'm convinced as well.

Great post Carddan. Last night, for about five minutes, I changed my avatar photo. NFL.com is selling toasters that imprint a team's logo on the toast. Considering all the "toast" remarks as of late I thought it was apropos and kind of funny.

But I couldn't stand the thought that anyone scrolling through these threads might think I was saying the team was toast. Because I sure don't believe it.

We are probably in for a bumpy ride. But all of this drama might just also cause the guys to come together and become an even more cohesive unit.

Buckle up! We do this together.

I love the tone I am hearing from some hardcore fans. They may have paused in shock and awe for a moment, but they are rallying to the team.
