Ian Kennedy Hit By Line Drive

I was at this game on Saturday. He got drilled by a line drive. The ball ricocheted off his leg and rolled toward first base. It actually beat the runner there.

This was after he gave up back-to-back HR's. Injury added to insult on that one...

Gibson pulled him from the game right after that. He didn't hobble off the field. Between innings, he walked right past me back to the locker room. Fans shouted at him, asked if he was okay. He gave the thumbs up. I noticed he didn't' have even the slightest limp.

So what could have been a pretty scary play may turn out to be a non-story. Still, sitting in those stands, I felt my gut twist in knots after that play.

"Kennedy walked one and struck out one and left during the fourth inning when he was hit below his left knee by a one-hop smash up the middle off the bat of Jedd Gyorko. Kennedy was diagnosed with a contusion below his left knee."

From MLB website. Sounds painful, but good news considering what could have happen.
