Turning point: Brody Crane scored the game-winning goal at 11:15 of the third period, helping the Jacksonville Icemen gain ground in the playoff seeding chase with Wednesday night's 3-2 win over the Orlando Solar Bears at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.

Three stars: 1. Crane, Jacksonville (one goal). 2. Davis Koch (one goal, one assist). 3. Olivier Nadeau, Jacksonville (one goal, one assist).

Penalty box: After three minors in a 22-second span early in the first period, the teams combined for only two penalties the rest of the way.

Around the rink: Anthony Bardaro scored the opening goal for the Solar Bears (33-22-10-0) and Chris Harpur tied the contest 2-2 in the second period. … Matt Vernon recorded 30 saves for the Icemen (39-18-5-1). … Jacksonville continues to chase the Florida Everblades, who won Wednesday against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, as well as the South Carolina Stingrays.

Up next: The Icemen remain at home for a 7 p.m. Saturday home game against the Stingrays.
