do you think he would still put up the same numbers? just curious on what you guys think. i know when boldin was out he still made an impact..but could he do it all season? i'm not saying he isn't good or not talented...but he doesn't have any talents that really STAND OUT (he's not a jump ball reciever, not blazing fast, not strong, etc). buy imo his best ability is his ability to catch the ball in traffic. i'm not cutting him down and i don't wanna piss anyone off by saying that. i just didn't know how to word it.

I think he could barely make it over 1000 yards if he was the #2 like he did this year. I wouldn't make that the standard, but I could see it. It's not like we have any other good proven guys that will take opportunities from him.

He put up good numbers when he did start this past year...as you suggest...so if he stays healthy, he should be able to have another impressive season.

he'd be better if we got someone to replace him on st so he could really concentrate onhis craft.

I am looking forward to seeing what Doucet and Breaston can do this year. I am thinking that Boldin will not be back so I may get to see them play. Nobody can replace Boldin, but I think with a better running game these 2 guys (along with Urban) will give us enough in the WR position. Also adding a TE that can both block and catch will help.

Breaston really put in the work in the offseason last year and if he continues to work hard and sharpen his route running he will have another good year.

Of course having KW back to throw to these guys is key.

Don't forget Lance Long on the practice squad.

I think Doucet has more potential as a starter than Stevie B. We will see this season.

We haven't seen anything from Doucet. Stevie B has been great, catches in traffic, deep balls, elusive, great number two. Hopefully Doucet will be a great slot number 3 receiver doing drags over the middle.

Breaston's upside is much greater than that of Doucet... Doucet is a smaller, just as slow version of Boldin. I don't see Doucet rising to a #2 but of course, I could be wrong...

Breaston needs to adopt a Fitz-like focus. His route running still requires a tremendous amount of work. As a #2, he will need to be way more precise than he has been as a #3. Watch him closely... he still stands up when coming out of breaks, rather than digging and cutting... That won't fly as a #2...

Steve made tremendous strides this season. He really had a terrific season IMO. I thought he did a terrific job when Q was out with injury.

It's hard to project how he would do for an entire season when teams know he's going to be the #2 receiver and have an entire offseason to look at tape and figure out how to defend him. They've had several seasons to do that with Larry and Q. On the one hand he brings more quickness than either Larry or Q. OTOH, he isn't the same asset that those two are at scoring touchdowns in red zone situations. I think if you polled defensive backs, they'd much rather try to tackle Steve than Larry or Q.

The real question is if Q is gone and Larry gets hurt, can he step into the #1 wide receiver role? That's the danger you face if you trade Boldin IMO. Take a look at what happened to Seattle this past season. Injuries decimated their wide receiver corps and that in turn left their defense on the field too much, etc.

P.S. I really hope Steve signals for some fair catches next season. He's taking too much unnecessary punishment on well-covered punts.

I'll bet you $5,000 ASFN Stevie B. isn't returning punts next season. Outside of 4-5 returns over the last 2 years he really hasn't been that good. A replacement will be on the roster next season, write it down!!!

That would depend on what we'd get for Boldin and if Kurt Warner comes back. I think he could, but it is debatable.

Breaston is the fastest WR we got, he is a burner and that is a talent our other WRs do not have. I'm not saying Fitz is slow but he is no speed burner.

Breaston has proven he can catch this year and do it in traffic

Breaston is young and I can see him improving in his route running just playing and working out next to Fitz alone

Breaston has scored some TDs this year BTW, but it is hard to score a lot when you have great options in Boldin and Fitz

and Doucet...:) from watching him at LSU, I do not think we have seen all this guy can offer yet

Steve and Larry are the same age

I certainly hope the wasted 2008 season isn't all Early can offer, or they're in trouble. he has to make it a priority to make himself less susceptible to injury this year, and battle for the #3 slot if Anquan is traded

To be a receiver in the league. If you are fast, big, strong, jump 10 feet high, from the PAC10, SEC, etc., 1st or 2nd round draft pick doesn't mean anything if the receiver can't get open or has skillet hands.

All that matters is if he can get open and can catch the ball 80 - 90% of the time when it is thrown his way. I prefer a receiver that can catch 8-10 passes that average around 5 - 8 yards than a WR that catches one ball for 40 yards and drops 8 others or isn't open for any other plays.

SB had75+ catches for 1000+ yds, as the 3 guy. if we get a bonafide receiving/rushing threat out of the backfield in fa or the draft, and breaston is#2, hell do at least as well. doucet hasnt got off the ground yet either.

I think Breaston will continue to be a 1000 yd Wr as long as K Warner is the QB. Kurts ability to read defenses and get the ball out quickly helped Breaston. On a team with an average QB, I think Breaston is an average WR.
