Signing James would mean no Lendale White/DeAngelo Wiliams at 10. Signing Clancy may make DT a lesser priority. I think that means our pick at 10 will most likley come from one of Hawk,Davis, Huff, or Jimmy Williams. I guess Cutler or Vince Young fall into the mix if they drop. Also, i think Winston Justice may be a possibilty. My choice would probably be Huff.

I'd take Davis, Young or Huff depending on who's there. There will be some good OL available in the 2nd and 3rd. If we can get Mawai and Neal in FA, then we could target Watson or Pope in the 2nd, and a FS or OLB in the 3rd.

The beauty of it all is we don't have to earmark ANYBODY.

If Edge is signed we can take ANY position including QB. One thing is certain, somebody will slip down to us at #10 that we will have not expected to be there. Some possibilties:

Micheal Huff
Vince Young
A.J. Hawk
Vernon Davis

Davis davis davis davis davis davis davis davis.

If we sign Edge, having Edge, Davis, Boldin, Fitz and BJ/McCoy/FA WR3 will be absolutely sick. I'm telling you, defenses will have thier heads explode trying to figure out who to cover.

It depends on what our board looks like and who falls to us.

There are a couple of wildcards - mainly the QB's: Will all three (Leinart, Young and Cutler) wind up in the Top 9?

Let's assume they do. Others slated to go high would include: Bush, Ferguson & the DE (Williams). That gives you 6.

Still out there would be Hawk (7) and Davis (8).

So from 9 - 10, figure on the 2 RB's (White, DeA Williams), 2 CB's (Huff, J Williams) and a LB on the cusp (Greenwood) plus possible surprises in the form of WR's Chad Jackson & Santonio Holmes and NT's (Ngata, Bunkley and Watson).

We don't know where these guys fall on our board, and we don't know which ones will drop to us.

Two possibilities if White or DeA Williams are the best on our board at #10:

1. Draft one of them (because RB's get injured a lot and have short shelf lives)

2. Try to trade down.

Huff, JWill, Justice, or Davis

Also we could trade down and snag Ko Sampson or McNeil!

i agree with jeff on this one. you never know who going to drop to you on the draft board. here is a thought. what if the cardinals trade up and go after one of the big names, lienart, cutler, or bush.

Here is the nice part of if Edge is signed:

The Cards go into the draft (unlike last year) not having a position where they MUST come up with a starter in the draft.

It means that they can truly take the best player available --

I cant say I agree. We really could use a starter at Safety and Weakside LB.

We could really use a guy like Justice at RT as well. We still have holes.

I don't like the idea of trading up at all. That would require giving up draft picks and DG has done an amazing job finding talent throughout every round in the draft.

This is also a very deep draft in areas that we have huge needs. I don't see a scenario where a blue chip prospect isn't available at the #10 pick. In the second rd there will be a multidude of options that will help the team. This includes Oline, FS, and TE.

I think more importantly if he signs who do we sign in addition to him in free agency?

Even if Edge signs a big deal we should still have enough cap space to sign another starter, whether its on the OLine, a DB or a LB.

If VD, VY and Cutler all crack the top ten, 1 of those 3 should slip through to ten.

When we sign James - I vote QBOF for #1 - Definately Vince Young. Possibly Cutler.

If all of them are gone including Hawk and Davis you'd have to go Lendale or Ngata. Ypu're right RB's get injured and LenDale is a SUPER INSURANCE POLICY.

@#10

Number 10 might be a good place to be. If Vernon Davis is still on the board and the Cardinals really don't want him, they could trade the pick with someone who wants to jump ahead of the Rams @11. Then the Cardinals draft Justice for RT and pick up another draft pick. (Personally, I would draft Davis, just putting forth a thought.)

I doubt Mario Williams would be there, but if were is I'd take him in a flash. Then in order: Hawk, Davis, Huff, Greenway, Justice, Young, Tye Hill. I doubt Green would take Young (but I could be wrong), as he needs to win big time now. Young would be at least a two year project.

OK I thought about it. Here is how the draft goes down.

Round 1 - Best Available OL
Round 2 - Best Available OL
Round 3 - Best Available OL
Round 4 - Best Available OL
Round 5 - Best Available OL
Round 6 - Best Available OL
Round 7 - Best Available OL

Out of 7 new OL plus what we already have we should be able to field a solid OL. Drafting 7 of them just raises the odds on it.:p

I think Green takes someone who can help immediately. That would almost rule out an OL. Perhaps a LB, DB, or a longshot QB of the future. If there is another lineman like Ferguson who could step in from day one he could be a choice.

LOL. Maybe part of Edge's new contract is that he gets to make the draft picks this year. :)

Picking 7 OL in the draft is crazy enough it just might work.
