Not necessarily a "draft talk" thread. Moreso just examining our strengths/weaknesses. Say the draft were tomorrow. Who would you take? Assuming we pick last

QB - no franchise worthy guys at the endt of the 1st.

RB - Nope. Set.

WR - Very possible. Plan for the future. Mike Williams from Clemson (Keim loves Clemson) would be an excellent option. Big and fast.

LT - Set.

RT - I think they are committed to the Humphries investment.

LG - set. Iupati has 2 more years.

RG - Big hole, however, I wonder if Cooper has turned them off to 1st rnd Gs. Great Gs can be found mid rounds.

C - Another big Q. Do they see Boehm as the future? If not there are several good C's available: Voltz, Pocic, Elflein.

TE - Set.

----------------

DL/DE - Although I need to get up to date on this DL class, I think DL might be our #1 need in the 2017 draft. Definitely old upfront with CC, Bryant, Peters, Frostee. Need youth and need early round youth.

OLB - unbelievable to say, but I think we are actually set at outside pass rush. If not, Charles Harris is by far my fav pass rusher. Mizzou guy along w Golden.

ILB - Hard to know how they feel about Minter. But if they are looking for an upgrade, there are 2 (possibly 3) big options: Raekwon Mcmillan and Jarrad Davis. All star ILBs. 3rd is a dark horse - Anthony Walker from Northwestern.

S - set.

CB - You can never have too many CBs. If a CB is the BPA, Im 100% for taking him. Not a 1st round guy, but Cameron Sutton is my fav CB in this class behind Desmond King (#1 CB)

Actually I don't think RG is a big hole - I think watford will be a very good starter assuming they resign him which they should - Immediately, although we will need a better backup, but that can be acquired through Free agency. I think Boehm will be our starting center based on that first preseason game - so I don't think that is a big need.

WR should not be a hole either, because they need to resign Floyd.

I would say DE, because I do think Calais is leaving, and even if Nkmediche looks great, we could use an upgrade on the other side.

Other possibilities would be CB, maybe I am just overreacting but Brandon williams getting torched constantly is scaring me. ILB and OLB would still be targets for me. I would not resign minter even though I think the cardinals will - I would much rather have another speedy inside backer to go with Deone.

At OLB Okafor will be gone, and I am not seeing much out of our other backup OLBS, so a good pass rusher is still a strong need in my opinion.

A Tackle is also a strong need even as a backup - but probably not in the first round unless it is the best value on the board.

Also needless to say if there is any QB they see any potential in, that would be my first choice.

They can't. They wouldn't be allowed to draft him if he re-enters.

Thatd be brilliant. Doesn't like SD's contract for the slotted $20mill at #3 overall, so he reneters draft, gets drafted #16 and gets a contracts for $8mill. LOL

and don't hijack my thread with Bosa

QB - Absolutely, by trading up

WR - Absolutely

OL - Doubtful in first round

TE - Doubtful in first round

RB - Possible, but trading down

----------------

DL - Absolutely

OLB - Absolutely, by trading up

ILB - Possible, but trading down

S - Possible, but trading down

CB - Possible, but trading down

So, I think anything is possible, but I feel that if they take a QB or edge-rusher - they will trade up for it. A DL or WR by standing pat if the right player is there. RB\ILB\S\CB by trading down a few slots to acquire another pick.

And I'm doubtful a TE or OL is our first pick, regardless of trade.

Carr, second round, has looked VG. And while it's still early, Prescott (3rd?) had a vg first game. I'm still high on BW, but we really won't know for another year in all probability. And even if he's pretty good, I think we need to spend a first or second round pick on another CB. If, as we all hope, we are picking towards the end of the round, a first or second is like a second or third. As for a center, I doubt that the team will give up on Boehm so soon. Watford can play all three OL positions, and Toner, an OT, converted to OG, might also be tried at center.

Excellent write up Bodha! I would put WR and QB at the top of the list. But, like you mentioned, there might not be one we love at the bottom of the first. WR is a position that looks great right now but could go south in a hurry. Fitz obviously isn't getting any younger. Probably only signing one of Brown and Floyd. And with the way BA loves to throw the ball down field, another talented WR is a must!
