This post is inspired by a caller into Bob Kemps radio station; very pro-Green, he made this unique analogy of the the Cardinals upcoming season, I think it went something like this:

If you think about the Cardinals like a car, the engine will be the offensive line, the wheels will be the QB & receivers, and Denny Green will be the driver taking us to the play-offs.

So...IF THE CARDINALS WERE A CAR...

Have some fun and please drive carefully.

It would be a Ford F150: looks big and powerful, but tends to breakdown in the situations where you need it the most. It would also have Firestone tires.

Fiero - really had 1 good year, everyone tends to forget about it or just joke about it.

Engine doesn't live up to expectations. Even though it's a sport's car, handles more like a sedan, paint job looks pretty good, but the primers used just underneath were terrible and caused premature failure.

Hardly any passenger room - no bandwagon there.

Built by Pontiac - one of the oldest car manufacturers, but also one of the most forgotten. and when you do think of Ponitiac, you usually say "eh."

Everyone seemed to love these things, but after having them for a year or two, everyone was ready to ditch them into a canal.

and wasn't the engine in the rear of these things? bass-ackwards to the whole industry?

I would give ANYTHING to watch you eat your words when McCown "makes it". To say he is crap at this juncture is without any foundation.......or is it wishful thinking on your part.

Bad on you......very bad!

Waitaminute...the Fiero was once listed in a Wall Street Journal article as one of the ten WORST cars EVER made in the history of automobile making.

I'm a little biased, since I used to own a Toyota MR2, which was a rival car to the Fiero, but a WAY better vehicle.

No, saying that he is any good is wishful thinking on your part. He hasn't done anything worth a damn outside of huck a miracle pass on the final play of a game.

And don't give me the Denny Green hero worship b.s.

McCown is Jake part 2. An athletic QB that holds the ball too long, doesn't read defenses well, and has been gifted the starting job with no competition.

However, I have purchased season tickets this year, so I will have a front row seat (actually like 20th row) in seeing if I "eat my words".

Chris, did you see the final 3 games last year and the progress McCown made in each successive game? I agree with you about him holding the ball too long and not reading defenses very well, especially in the first game. He also had "happy feet". In the second game, his condifence level went up, he lost the "happy feet", but he was still relying on his primary target for pass completions. In the third game, he started looking like a real QB, was able to hit secondary targets ocassionally, and his never give up attitude surfaced. If he continues that progress and this coaching staff can give him the pointers he needs, I see no reason why he can't become a very decent QB this year.

I think the main difference between him and Jake is that McCown seems to improve with experience. For some reason that never happened with Jake.

Well it is possible he will progress even further, but I think it is equally possible that he will have a miserable year...especially with the schedule we face. I think we will know a lot about McCown at the New England game since their D is so good.

I agree. The Rams defense won't give him near the problems the Patriots defense will. If he can handle that pressure and perform reasonably well, he could prove Green right.

I have to agree with 40. His measuring stick will be the Pats game.

Pantone must be knocking down the koolaide by the pool load if he doesn't think we are one of the 10 worst football teams ever.
