I think he could get in, if he did a totally unselfish act. Right now though he looks like he just told the truth for money. If he were to give all the proceeds of his book to a MLB charity and appologize saying that he hopes that the money made from his book can help people less fortunate then himself I bet you they would let him in.

Well it's not totally true that he told the truth for money. He makes one good argument that makes some sense to me.

He says that when he met with Selig last year it was the first time that any commissioner after Giamatti sat down and talked to him about it. He was trying for years to talk to Selig and Selig wouldn't return any calls. When he met with Selig he admitted then that he had bet on baseball. So he didn't first admit in his book. He had already confessed.

It would make sense to me that the appropriate forum to admit that he bet on baseball would be the comissioner, so I can understand his reluctance to publically admit that he bet on baseball prior to meeting with the comissioner. I'm sure he never intended that to drag on for 13 years.

They interviewed Bob Feller yesterday and he said Pete Rose should never be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He said the older Hall of Famers also think he is does not belong.

There is no way Pete donates the proceeds from his book because he needs it to cover his gambling debt. Mike Schmidt even said if Pete really wants to get back into baseball he should not be hanging around the horse track the day after he met with Selig.

If Pete was sincere he would be doing something positive with his disease, like opening a clinic for gamblers or something that shows he is serious about beating his disease and helping others.

My view of Pete is he is a loser who thinks he is bigger than baseball. The guy thinks because he now admits he bet on baseball after 13 years of adamently denying it, should be allowed back in the sport is a joke. He still admits that he did not bet in the clubhouse, which is another lie. I hope baseball never allows him back.

Works for me. I never felt Rose should be reinstated or necessarily in the HOF - sure, there are liars, racists, and thugs in the HOF - but they disrespected or abused themselves, society, whatever - Rose clearly disrespected the game, and he broke the laws designed to protect the game. That, to me at least, is a bit different.
