If we really want Seau, we'd better trade for him.

The dolphins are showing interest in him now and that is probably the ideal location for him. There is small chance the cardinals will be able to sign him to a contract once or if he is released. The only way would be to drasticaly over pay for him, and I mean big time. We'd be better off trading a day 2 pick for him (i'd be OK with rounds 5+) and assume his big contract since we'd be paying out of the arse for him anyway.

At first I didn't want Seau at all, but thinking about it, he might be very valuable to this team for a year or 2 in many of the same ways Emmitt will be.

We need experiance and leaders on BOTH sides of the ball. Emmitt gives us one on offense. If all goes well he will help our young Offense mature, teach Shipp a few tricks of the trade, be a productive player and fill seats at SDS.

If we could get Seau here he would be our Leader on D. Everyone will listen to him and if all goes well he will help our young D mature, bring out the "Killer instinct" in our other players on D, give our D a bit of a swagger, be a productive starter for a year or so (probably a bit less likely than Emmitt) and put a few more rear ends in the seats at SDS.

If we sign Seau I believe it will have some affect on our ability to sign some FA's. These are two guys that other players want to play with and signing both of them should send a message around the leauge that the Cardinals are getting serious about winning. Well, in a perfect world it would all work out that way.

Other than Thomas (cough) Jones, or any of our defensive (cough) tackles, I can't think of anyone we could trade to the Chargers to get Seau.

I don't know his exact contract status but it's pretty big. The good news is I believe he only has 1 or 2 more years remaining on it. My logic is that we'd have to pay an asinine amount of money to lure him here anyway so why not just assume his large contract and make a trade for him. We have the cap space for it. If we really want him we'd have to pull the trigger on a trade cause thats probably the only way he'd ever come here.

And Cardinals.Ken I don't think we'd have to trade a player to get him. The chargers will cut him if after June 1st if no trade can be arranged so why not offer a 5th rounder for him? Better for SD to get something rather than nothing. If that doesn't work then maybe we send a 5th rounder AND Thomas Jones to SD. I mean, how could they say no to a deal like that?

Hmmmm, I just don't see that happening...a 5th rounder for a $8 million or so cap hit...If we could find a way to get Seau in here for around $2-3 million, I would say go for it.

I'd rather not give up any picks to get him and at most a 6th. He's a great leader, but I doubt he'd be effective in more than spot duty at this point.

TJ is expendable, but they have LT so I don't know what they might see in that.

Hell we might not even draft on the second day. A 7th for Robinson, a 6th for Seau, and a 5th in a deal to the Texans for the 3rd overall. Any ideas on where we can send our 4th?

Am I too tired, and should I stop posting?

I'd love to have Junior, but this is where cap-discipline must kick in. The Cards must determine what they feel Seau is worth to them and not get sucked into a bidding war.

If some other team beats their offer, Graves should stick to his guns and walk away (with his wallet intact).

That doesn't mean the Cards should be cheap about it - just realistic. Then let the marketplace decide.
