Does that mean he could get fired after a couple years and then we try to move back to a more traditional defence? I'm thinking you should choose a coach that fits your players talents... In today's NFL you could lose years trying to fit a particular scheme if your players were made for a different one...

I think it's likely that this is a bad fit, mostly because I think 4-3 defenses are inherently inferior without dynamic linebackers.

However, Todd Bowles looked like a trainwreck early on and his defense ended up being elite. So... I do think the players should get a little time to get used to it. I also think Wilkes needs some linebackers who don't blow chunks.

It doesn't get more traditional than a 4-3 zone defense :biglaugh:

The biggest problems are not the scheme, we still line up with 2 middle linebackers and Jones as the edge rusher, so it's not as different from last year, front-wise as you'd think. The players are getting pushed sideline to sideline and there's no aggressiveness in the playcalling. Arians' defense was much more blitz-happy, and while that made some of our CBs look very suspect, it kept opposing QBs on edge. Wilks' defense so far is vanilla as it comes. Rush 4 on 3rd down and sit back in zone 5-10 yards off the line. It's back to McGinnis ball right now if we don't up the aggressiveness.

This is nonsense. We blitzed plenty last night. There just weren’t many third-and-long situations where we could pin our ears back.

Excuses excuses
The offense and defense stunk...not only did they stink they made NO halftime adjustments...none
Thus Washington made 5 yards on every down.
The coaching staff sucked

Mind you the Cards had 0 points through 3 quarters.
Washington was stomping the Cards.
It looked like a fight between an 8th grader vs a 3rd grader

Go back and watch 3rd downs again.

The Cards forced an intentional grounding penalty of Washington's second 3rd down of the game.

The next time the Cards faced 3rd and more than 4 was with 12 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter, and they forced a punt.
