Yes.

Dwayne Wade is almost as fast as Barbosa at least and he gets his head on rim level easily. Wade can sky and fly.

Barbosa and Arenas are pretty close in athletic ability I would say.

Why?

Dirk Nowitzki was the comparison that NBAdraft.net gave Lampe.

And comparing him to Brad Miller doesn't mean he will be nearly as good as Miller, you know?

Miller has been a 2nd round pick as well, btw.

It seems like every big Euro is compared to Dirk. :D

Actually the comparison with Dirk is a two edged sword. Dirk is terrible on defense.

4. Bosh-Sheed : very good one.

5. Wade- Arenas : I don't really like it. Arenas is a much better shooter.
Wade still reminds me of Stackhouse. Fantastic one-on-one play, penetrations, dunks, good passing ability, lot ot TO's, not much outside-shooting. Stackhouse is bigger, Wade is a more tenacious
defender.

6. Kaman-Longley: Kaman is more athletic and he is a true post-up player. Kaman reminded me rather of Rony Seikaly.

8. Ford-Tinsley: Ford is much more athletic than Tinsley. Ford reminded me of Terrell Brandon and he still does.

9. Sweetney- Taylor: I think Danny Fortson with post-up moves is a more accurate comparison for Sweetney.

12. Collison: in NCAA his play was similar to Juwan Howard's, IMO.

14. Ridnour-Dickau: I do think that Ridnour is already a better player than Dickau ever will be. Dickau doesn't have any idea how to run an NBA team while Ridnour does despite the fact Dickau has one more year NBA- and NCAA-experience.

15. Gaines is a much more polished player than Sasser although their effectiveness is the same.....

21. I guess Diaw has Christie's athleticism and maybe his defensive ability but definitely lacks Christie's talent.

24. Cook- Laettner: good one.

25. Delfino is bigger, less athletic and talented than Ginobili. He still was a good pick at #25.

Wade- Arenas

Arenas was a second round pick who worked very hard to turn himself into solid NBA player. Wade was middle lottery pick who has been instrumental in making his team a playoff contender (in the East) in his first year. Neither was really a point guard in collect and neither are really big enough to be a classic SG. Arenas is very good shooter. Wade is a super athlete.

I can see SOME similarity, but not a lot.

Actually, it is more restricted. White Euro players can only be compared to other White Euro's; white HS players can only be compared to white HS player, etc.

It is a cliche to say that black players are more athletic and white players are more polished. Bobby Jones (played on the Sixers in the early 80's) could jump with anybody and there are numerous other white super athlete types. The list of polished black basketball players would fill volumes. But cliches are are easy.

I don't think there's anything wrong with these clichés. Generally speaking the black players or more athletic than the white players. Of course we can all pointed out exceptions to the rule, but that's true with every generalization. The white NBA players are generally more polished otherwise they would not be in the NBA with their lack of athleticism. :) That is unless they are just very big and tall which got several people into the NBA all by itself.

I'm not saying that black atheletes aren't generally more atheletic, but the fact that every single white player is compared only to white players and black players are only compared to black players is kind of absurd.

I agree. I was actually responding more to George than to your post. It drives me crazy when every white power forward is compared to Keith Van Horn or Tom Gugliotta.
