IndyStar track and field athlete of the week, presented by YMCA of Greater Indianapolis, returns after a thrilling weekend at the Hoosier State Relays at Fall Creek Pavilion.

The event, informally known as indoor state, brought together the best of Indiana across its small and large school divisions. This week's poll celebrates the top performances from the meet.

Congratulations to Greenwood's Maddison Judge, the most recent track and field athlete of the week winner! The freshman won the vote after winning the high jump at Mid-State Indoor.

4x800 relay (girls), Bloomington South: The Panthers ran one of most thrilling races in the large school division as Ellie Barada made up serious ground in a 2:08.72 anchor leg to overtake Carmel in the home stretch to win in 9:06.38 — a new meet record. Team members Barada, Lexi Kollbaum, Mary Asplund and Jasmine Martoglio also set a new meet record in the distance medley relay.

Isabella Sotelo, Eastern Hancock: Sotelo avenged a third-place finish in the 60 hurdle prelims on Saturday, winning the small school division final in 8.90. The sophomore, who placed third at outdoor state in the 100 hurdles in 2024, posted the sixth-best time across the small and large school divisions at HSR.

Kya Crooke, Heritage Christian: Crooke won the small school division long jump with a mark of 6 feet and a quarter-of-an-inch, breaking a meet record set in 1985. The reigning long jump state champion was all over the heat sheet on Saturday, also winning the long jump and 60 along with running on Heritage Christian's 4x200 relay.

Nadia Ford, FW Carroll: Ford entered Saturday as the top seed in the 60. She delivered, winning the event in 7.46 — .18 of a second faster than the next competitor. The sophomore also helped FW Carroll to a seventh-place finish in the 4x200 relay.

4x400 relay (boys), North Central: The large school 4x400 relay was a race for the ages, featuring a dominant anchor leg from Dehnm Holt (47.4) that secured the Panthers' victory. The team of Dexter Parker, Oneil Wheeler, Antonio Smith and Holt broke the previous large school meet record that had stood since 2011, winning the event in 3:17.47.

John Peters, Merrillville: Peters broke two large school meet records on Saturday, winning the long jump with a mark of 23 feet, 8.25 inches and the 60 hurdles in 7.76. The Western Michigan football commit also tied the indoor state record with the 7.76 mark.

4x400 relay (boys), Bishop Chatard: Chatard's 4x400 relay smashed the previous small school meet record of 3:25.20, winning the event in 3:15.92. The same group of runners — Kalen Sargent, Quinn O'Neil, Phoenix Boyer and Keaton Kuehr — also broke the meet record in the 4x200m.

Chris Hamilton, Springs Valley: Hamilton dominated the long jump in the small school division, winning the event with a mark of 22 feet, 9.5 inches — nearly a foot better than the next competitor. It was Hamilton's first HSR win after placing 15th in the 60 last season.
