Thanks. I did not see this. I don’t doubt kingsbury’s offensive and innovative smarts. If there is one concern I have is can command respect among a room full of veteran NFL players. Of course winning and/ or being competitive will go a long way in gaining respect.

If KK doesn't win he won't need respect anyway since he's gonna be out quickly. If KK is winning, he will have the respect of the locker room.

Out quickly? As in a single year like the last coach? That would be 3 OC’s in 3 years for Josh Rosen. Poor QB environment if that plays out.

This past season was historically bad, I have no doubt the team will be better. A competent coach would have had 6-7 wins though even with all the injuries though.

But if the worst case was to happen in 2019, and we had the same exact record of 3-13 I doubt the team would lack competitiveness and would trend upward buying KK some time.

The only thing that would send Kingbury out the door after 1 year would be if he loses the locker room like Wilks did. Contrary to what the players said publicly, Wilks lost the locker room and the players basically quit on him. If this happens to KK, he won't last long either.

Ha ! I don’t think so. The bar is so low it would be damn near impossible to not improve in every phase of our offense.

Cardinals in 2018 were worse than 2017 Browns, who wen 0-16, just by point deferential. And yet, Cardinals won 3 games.

So Cardinals in 2019 can be better than 2018 version and yet not win a game.

''The good news is that, as a coach’s son, Kingsbury’s reputation is that of a grinder with a passion for the game. Patriots people have told others around the NFL that Kingsbury, a sixth-round pick of New England in 2003, was like a graduate assistant coach when he was on their roster for a year. Charlie Weis, his offensive coordinator during that time, texted that he recalled Kingsbury came off “destined to be a coach. He was energetic, well-liked and well-respected.”

Sorry if this was posted earlier but very interesting article on Kingsbury.

I keep reading that Keim found McVay first...does anyone remember this before now?

I recall reading something, probably posted on here, from a reporter/media guy on Twitter saying that he had heard from multiple people over the past couple of years that Keim was targeting McVay to replace BA, but Rams beat him to the punch. Take it for what it's worth.

Interesting article but if Keim was so blown away with Kingsbury when they worked out Mahomes that year, why did we hire Wilks and not Kingsbury last year?

That part to me sounds like they are fibbing a little. I'm sure they were interested when they met him at the time but I think they want it to appear they have been working this angle for longer than they actually have so saying we loved the guy when we worked out Mahomes fits that narrative.

ANd yes it has been reported before as the article says, the Cards were interested in McVay, not sure for what position, but Arians decided to stay another year and that pushed that plan back and the Rams hired him.

Kingsbury was under contract with with TTU at that point. They also probably weren't desperate enough at that point to go with a high risk high reward move like that, now they were.

Would BA have “retired” if the Cardinals traded up and drafted Mahomes? I doubt it
