The New York Liberty have acquired guard Natasha Cloud from the Connecticut Sun in exchange for the No. 7 overall selection in this year's WNBA draft and the Liberty's 2026 first-round pick.

For Cloud, a nine-year WNBA veteran at age 33, it's the second time she's been traded in less than two months this offseason. She went to the Sun in a January deal that sent five-time All-Star Alyssa Thomas to Phoenix.

Connecticut added the No. 12 overall pick in that deal, and the Cloud trade gives the team's rebuilding effort even more draft capital.

Meanwhile, the Liberty bolster their roster on the heels of winning the franchise's first WNBA title last October.

Cloud brings her own championship experience with her, having won a title with the Washington Mystics in 2019.

“We could not be more excited to welcome Natasha Cloud to the New York Liberty family,” said GM Jonathan Kolb. “Tash is someone who we identified years ago as a prime fit for our team and embodies everything we look for in a player.”

She averaged 8.6 points, 5.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game over eight seasons with the Mystics and one with the Mercury. She is also an elite defender, earning All-Defensive first-team honors once and second team twice.
