if this comes to pass, could someone please note the details of this and how it will affect the roster. Such as I heard playoff teams will be limited in signing big freeagents ect... If one has the time, a gist of the scenary to come would be great. And why talk about trading Boldin, or not still try to sign Dansby if money is not an option. Yes, our young WR group looks good but Boldin would be huge to have on his leadership alone and I say this by all the desire by his fellow teammates to keep him on. Yes he is often injured, but would be nice to see him in the huddle with a Leinart to help him along if Warner does not return.

From Schefter:

"These final eight teams will be allowed to sign one unrestricted free agent for roughly $5.5 million or more in year one of the contract. They also can sign any unrestricted free agents for less than roughly $3.7 million in year one of the contract."

There will not be many FA, I believe IIRC that over 80% of would be FA's will become RFA's. I dont see the cardinals really signing anyone, they will put all focus on the draft.

With the richest teams overspending how many teams will spend less because there is no salary floor.

First I am not so sure even the richest teams will overspend. For example the Cowboys were near the bottom in salary spent in 2009. The Redskins owner said he is done spending willy nilly, he is now going to spend smart. Plus they will not want to be in over their heads once the cap does and will come back. They don't want to be sitting there with a bunch of salaries sitting over their heads in 2011 or 2012 when the cap comes back and have to make a lot of cuts.

But lets say they still do over spend, to answer your question it would be way more then half that spend less because of no salary floor.

Spending less gives the owners a ton more ammo in the negotiations if the players aren't getting paid like they usually do. The owners can really put the screws to the players in 2010 if they want to and I think they want to.

So what of Dansby who wants Rock Star $$? Will he have been dumb to have passed up the signing bonus the Cards threw his way last off season?

Absolutely. I also think they are going to hammer the players this year.

If not, I bet they make exceptions for the future caps based on the deals made this year.

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on if teams do massive cuts this offseason because there is no cap thus no reason to take into account cap hits that come with cuts of bad contracts. Note that top 8 teams are allowed to sign cut players to what ever contract they want no matter if they loss a free agent or not. If that happens then there will be more Free agents on the market then we originally thought thus watering down the market for Dansby, in a market when teams don't want to spend money. But if the cuts are not that prevalent then Dansby could be one of the very few good free agents on the market thus raising his status and getting over paid. Plus the old adage "it only takes on team to covet a player and pay them to much or draft them way to high." Plus dont get me wrong just because I think teams will spend far less then in the past, but teams will still spend money, Dansby may or may not get some of that.
