BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football wrapped up camp with its annual spring game on Thursday night at Memorial Stadium.

Backup quarterback Alberto Mendoza helped the offense close out a 31-23 win over the defense with a 7-yard touchdown pass to LeBron Bond in the final two minutes.

The Hoosiers had two previous scrimmages during spring, but the exhibition on Thursday night was the only time they went live.

Here's a rundown of what went down:

Indiana football held out veteran defensive starters Aiden Fisher and Mikail Kamara for the scrimmage. They participated in pre-game warmups and drills, but didn't end up playing.

The Hoosiers were very short-handed at receiver with Elijah Sarratt and Makai Jackson both sitting out. Cignetti previously announced that Michigan transfer receiver Tyler Morris suffered a season-ending injury, which left IU with just five available scholarship receivers for the scrimmage.

One other unexpected absence was former Northern Illinois defensive back Amariyun Knighten, who was on crutches. He was competing to start opposite D'Angelo Ponds at corner alongside Jamari Sharpe and Pitt transfer Ryland Gandy.
