Anybody have any tips or experience (good or bad) with taking very young children to training camp? We just had our first child July 4th. We had thought about doing an overnight trip to Flag for camp towards the end (week of Aug 15th or 20th). Just want to get opinions from those who have done it (where to stay, places to go eat, etc...). I'm sure i'm just being paraniod/nervous about taking the little guy out on a trip for the first time. Any info is appreciated, thanks.

Lots of great places to take a car seat or stroller. Blanket on the grass as well. Congrats on your new baby, boy or girl? Name. It's a yankee doodle dandy born on the fourth of July.

Congratulations on the birth of your little guy. Glad to see another Cardinal's family among the faithful. Take lots of pictures.

I don't see why not. It is a very family-friendly atmoshphere. Alcohol-free and great weather. Bounce houses and games for kids a bit older than your new one.

Only thing that might be a concern is that it is outdoor and porta-potty only on the fields. No running water bathrooms in the immediate area. Dunno if that is an issue or not.

If you want to get an idea of what you are looking at, go to maps.google.com and search on "Walkup Skydome" Switch to satellite view. Practice is held on the 3 fields to the NE of the dome. Mostly on the upper 2.

Personally, I dont think you should take a kid that young. Mostly due to the sunlight, even if they are shaded. Born July 4th, thats a newborn. Its not a baby yet, newborns are a different creature. Things skin is nearly translucent, I wouldnt risk it.

- Newborns are newborns for the first 30 days of their life, after that they are infants. So itll be close. If you do bring it, make sure you stuff that thing with water.

Thanks everybody. It's a boy, named Jacob Antonio.
Bodha - For me, I would love to take him out for his first training camp but I am just as concerned about the issues you bring up. I wondered if anybody else had taken a child of a similar age. He will be about 6-7 weeks at this time. I will definitely get the opinion of our pediatrician about the exposure issues. Definitely not looking to put him at risk.

You can bring an infant out there...the weather is great and if the baby cries...no one cares. So long as you aren't the dad leaving the kid to go get autographs....

I have to agree, the sun in flag is worse than you think because its not as hot.
