This morning's keynote at PDC was broadcast live on microsoft.com. There were VERY COMPELLING features that we showed in many products. The broadcast should be available shortly on http://winme in case you missed them.

SUMMARY: We now have a dozen compelling demos for both Windows Vista and Office 12 that we can show to customers.

In the BillG keynote we showed...

Vista - search capabilities everywhere. You can add metadata to a file simply by dragging it to a folder that contains that metadata.

Vista - 3d view of open applications.

IE7 - autodiscovery of RSS feeds on a page loaded into a menu at the top for immediate access - no more searching for them.

IE7 - Tabbed browsers, preview panes that show a one page view of all your open IE pages (really slick).

Outlook - RSS feeds autodiscovered and presented as e-mail threads within your mailbox (allows for automatic off-line viewing of your favorite feeds).

IE7 - Print function now sizes the web page to your printer page, eliminating the extra pages that get printed with one column or one line due to web site design.

Outlook - All kinds of tasks (Project / Outlook, Sharepoint, etc.) show up in a single view.

Excel - Much faster formatting of documents due to clearer presentation of most common buttons.

Powerpoint - 1 step processes for adding complex graphics to slides.

Jim Alchin keynote:

Not enough RAM in your laptop? Jim Alchin showed how you can insert a USB memory stick into a Vista machine and it automagically is configured as VIRTUAL MEMORY. No kidding.

New feature called SUPERFETCH that intelligently guesses what you will be doing next and loads that piece of code into RAM for faster access (I've been waiting 10 years for this feature).

Showed example of partner integration by Netflix - search for/view/order your movies from within Vista, including video previews and 3d representation of what is in your queue (way cool).
