Jul 7 - The Houston Chronicle reports Rockets GM Carroll Dawson emerged from his meeting with Mike James on Thursday without his primary free-agent target but with a sense he could be close to bringing James back to the Rockets."It was a good meeting," Dawson told the newspaper. "Hopefully, we'll have a decision tomorrow. We feel pretty good about it."

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports James said Thursday that the Wolves are one of three teams he's still considering.
"Minnesota is definitely one of my top choices," James told the newspaper. "They have one of the best players in the NBA in Kevin Garnett. I've been a fan of Kevin since I've been in the game. It would be an honor for me to play with somebody like that, because I think he thinks like me as far as how I approach the game, and he would bring out the best in me."

According to the newspaper, the Jazz are not among the nine teams that reportedly have expressed interest in Wilcox, either.In related news ...
The Chicago Sun-Times reports the next name on Chicago Bulls GM John Paxson's wish list is Wilcox. However as the newspaper points out, their best chance of landing him will be through a sign-and-trade deal with Seattle and that is unlikely.

The newspaper also reports the Wizards, at least for now, don't appear to be interested in doing a sign-and-trade, despite that fact that Philadelphia and Phoenix are believed to have approached them.
